My next car will, most likely, be an X6, X7 or Audi Q8.

Everyone on here always huffs and puffs whenever a new SUV is launched to try and demonstrate that they are some kind of driving hero that can only get pleasure from basic, manual sports cars.

However, for the roads and traffic conditions we have in the South East, the reality is one very rarely gets a chance to really enjoy the dynamic abilities of a sporty car, so a comfortable, quiet, spacious and highly equipped SUV makes trudging down the M4 on a wet Tuesday morning all the more tolerable.

Definitely a love hate car this it seems. Being a BMW fanboy I would rather a nice long roof estate car, far more classier in my eyes..if you can justify a car that big for your daily whip then fair enough, I couldnt be arsed driving the heft smile

Still not quite a full sized SUV yet, perhaps BMW will bring out a LWB version.

BMW X7:

Length: 202.8 in (5,150 mm)
Width: 78.7 in (2,000 mm)

Chevrolet Suburban:

Length: 224.4 in (5,700 mm)
Width: 80.5 in (2,045 mm)

At least the Chevy has always been big, so this kind works more for me... unashamedly so

Interestingly Chevrolet has been building the Suburban for 50 years to almost exactly the same dimensions

Awwww sweetheart... bless you for taking the time out to read through my posts, you’re an absolute darling!!

Okay, just to humor you, I’ll openly admit to being a plum if you can tell me IN YOUR OWN WORDS (ie. not via plagiarism of tired clichéd statements) what exactly about BMW ownership makes their owners a ‘snob’

Oh, and just to sink down to your level, I think you’re a muppet.

Why do we need the X7? Because the X5 is already a f**king great battleship of a thing and what the world needs is an Aircraft Carrier to replace it with. It's a ridiculous monster of a vehicle, from a company that is supposed to be trying to lead the market into hybrids and fuel efficiency.

And that front grille looks stupid. The Escalade which the X7 is trying to mimic actually looks better.

So what is wrong with a more efficient and cheaper 7 series or an A6 Avant?

You have to be a troll? There’s no way you could actually be anymore stereotypical of the popular image of a BMW driver. Do you also wear red braces, carry a money clip, and whenever possible park straddling two parking spaces? laugh

Honestly and mainly surprised that it has taken this long for BMW to add a "7" to the SUV range

Not read this thread, but I'm guessing it's just a direct copy of the Cullinan thread. Cliched stereotypes about footballers/arabs/pointless/school run/too big/estate cars are better/etc.

But those poster who care so little about SUVs that they can't stop complaining about them are missing some vital facts.

Full-Size SUV sales are increasing by almost 15% per annum, around 400,000 units in America alone (dominated by the Suburban/Tahoe) and approaching 1,000,000 units worldwide.

The Merc GL sells well around the world (around 100,000 units), as do the Suburban, Escalade, Yukon & Navigator. BMW would be crazy not to get in on the act.

None of the above are really aimed at the UK Market (although Merc sell around 5,000 GLs per year in Europe, the UK being their 2nd biggest European market).
Ive been in the UAE for nearly 8 years. Every day, you will see hundreds of Landcruiser, Yukon, Escalade, GLS, Durango, Lexus GX & LX, Patrol Super Safari, Patrol, Tahoe, Sequioa,Infiniti, Expedition....You dont notice them as being anything out of the ordinary.

All large 7/8 seaters, and all fit perfectly well on the roads, parking spaces and multi storeys. I have an old Armada, perfect for my needs- seats 8, more than capable for how far i take it off road, huge boot when not carrying passengers, good spec, cheap to run.
The terminally hard of thinking still seem to think that every single vehicle that doesnt fit their own criteria must immediately be superflous to anyone elses.

Right, just to be clear, you who stated:

Wow, that's Escalade sized! Ridiculous for most single carriageways in the UK.

Hardly... it's approximately the same size as a full fat range rover and still smaller than traditional American full sized SUV's.

People seem to manage just fine with pickups and van's on British roads, this will be no different.
