RE: Range Rover Evoque P250: Driven
Discussion
The Old Evoque platform was based on Free lander. It had a Ford diesel engine which was changed to a ingenium in 2017.
The new platform is similar to the e pace and the new 20my discovery sport, but will be different in length and will have the ingenium engines.

70% urban and no hybrid or all electric varient? This strikes me as better suited to that than the F Pace, so why is it there and not here? With the Macan due to go all electric they could have stolen a march.....

The ipace is there all electric car which is similar in size.
Forgive me, the I pace rather than the electric f pace as I described it, ....so my point is the Evoque is a way bigger seller, it is truly urban, and yet has no hybrid tech....I believe there starting the hybrid evoque and disco sport in the summer. Whether that goes to plan we'll see.

It is a small car & easy to park in town / supermarket -
And yet i'm always being held up by people driving these "small" cars who have absolutely no spacial awareness and either try to get through, and get stuck in, a gap 3 feet too narrow, or can't seem to get through a gap 13 feet too wide.......st4 said:
Precisely none of these will venture off road. The abilities of the rx450h and nx300h are more than sufficient for clearing the speed bumps in new build estates - which is as close to off roading as one of these will get.
This looks awkward, the rx and nx less so - imho. The rx sits at least one class above. It’s in every sense a superior car.
I suspect none of the Lexus go off road. At least not in the UK. But I suspect some Evoques do. And as they get older more will. This looks awkward, the rx and nx less so - imho. The rx sits at least one class above. It’s in every sense a superior car.
And arguably if you don’t plan to go off road at all, aka Lexus. Then a saloon or estate is the answer. I’m not denying the Lexus’ are good cars. Just they aren’t lookers. And removing any bias you may have, you cannot deny the Evoque is striking to look at and that many have been bought on their looks alone.

Interior space might not be the best but if that's a concern get a disco sport.

Just to add fuel to the fire, is the all new alloy ingenium engine genuinely an all new engine?
Or is it a coincidence Ford launched an all new alloy 4 cylinder diesel at about the same time.. both engines claim very similar power outputs aswell.......
The answer lies in the terrible efficiency. It’s not new. Or is it a coincidence Ford launched an all new alloy 4 cylinder diesel at about the same time.. both engines claim very similar power outputs aswell.......
As an aside LR have form with bullst. They will use BMW V8s soon. But in these pages, LR staff and fan boys claim it’s their engine. It’s not. It’s the same Aston/Merc borrow and tune.

TheHorror!!
You boys need to get off conspiracy pages!!
Why would Jag/Land-rover goto the effort and spend millions on building a new factory, employ 1000 workers and then build an engine they copied off Ford, which had only just come out.
New engines take a couple of years to design, so unless a PSA engine designer left PSA to go to JLR and then pass over the design, which will have still been in it's infancy, I very much doubt it!!!

But they do... the engine plant is in Wolverhampton to make the only 4 cylinder engines they now use.

Also the interior is so much nicer. Quality and the looks is so much better.

Quality. An evoque. Are you kidding. Really. Lexus trumps everyone for quality. Interior space might not be the best but if that's a concern get a disco sport.
If you’re serious about off roading you buy a Landcruiser or big JLR car not this fake tan mums PCP run around.

It’s well known that RRs will soon use the BMW sourced V8As an aside LR have form with bullst. They will use BMW V8s soon. But in these pages, LR staff and fan boys claim it’s their engine. It’s not. It’s the same Aston/Merc borrow and tune.
It’s also well known that unsurprisingly manufacturers who insource and rebadge power plants funnily enough don’t usually trumpet the OEM’s name. Aston and AMG being a prime example.
Where’s the fire ?

You don’t have to be serious about off roading to want or need something that could be capable.
Have you done much off roading?
No. I had an x5 yonks ago and found its meagre off road abilities surplus to my requirements so I replaced it with a car. It was nice to load the shopping into and really that’s why people buy them. The higher ride height, the ease of loading and unloading not the off road ability - hence why an Rx/nx is a worthy alternative - particularly as they’re much more reliable. Have you done much off roading?
Actually the new Hyundai Tuscon and Santa Fe look good rivals for this - and much longer warranties.
