most elegant Mc to date, defiantly losing the brashness.

For all their technology and resources, McLaren seem blind to the fact you also need some inspiration and flair.

Whilst I agree with much of what you say, I do think that you’re missing the point a bit regarding this car.
For us petrolheads the platform share elements may be very obvious but if they are targeting a new buyer, someone who perhaps doesn’t know the brand and is probably not based in the U.K., then this car might make a lot of sense.
It’s something different (not one of the usual suspects) and is on the face of it, a more liveable everyday option than the rest of the range.

Ha ha that's v funny but you are right ,and for record I think it's just another clone of there range ,if you want a gt you need space inside and luxury comes no where near Bentley continental .

As mentioned earlier I like it and it is rather elegant in the flesh with a lovely interior. But as others have mentioned on here, McLaren whilst launching new derivatives need to better support their existing customer base and their back catalogue. I know of several clients who would love to buy a 12C but would not be brave enough to put pen to paper because of the fear of huge bills. Why do McLaren dealers not support the model, apart from the obvious? It would help firm up values and give more security to those who want to step into the brand.

Step into a Ferrai showroom and you can buy a nearly-new 488 but also a 355 if the mood takes you, admittedly at high prices, but it makes the buyer feel special and they reinforces the impression that they will be looked after. Perhaps this will come in time with McLaren once they are more established, but they certainly need to work on the used side of things. Imagine going into a McLaren showroom and available to buy is a P1, maybe even an F1, McLaren SLR, this new GT and early 12C. If you walk in there with £85k to buy your first 12C, imagine how special you would feel and how you are likely to then stay and progress up through the brand....

Quite surprised with the generally positive comments on the styling on here.
It looks super old to me. It lacks any drama and sculpture that the 720S did very, very well. Seems like a significant step backwards.
The massive side vents seem an odd choice and the periphery looks straight off the Senna/doesn't gel with the rest of it.
Stylistically it seems like a step back to me and something that should have been competing back in the days of the 430/Gallardo. Not now.
Maybe the worst wheels of the year as well.

Agree with that.

Very backward and clumsy compared to the sci-fi 720 styling.

And yes the wheels are awful too.

Spot on post.

Before I bought my first Ferrari I had bought 4 new Maseratis over the past 16 years from Graypaul and had always received exemplary service from them.

When my Ferrari itch needed to be scratched I looked at several options from a 348 TB via a 430 and a Cali T to a 458 Spider. Graypaul were most helpful with test drives and locating suitable cars for me to choose between. I settled on the 458 and have since ordered a Portofino and an 812 from them.

I'm not sure painting it brown makes it a GT, it looks about 2% more practical than a 570/720?!

How much is a windscreen as it looks like it will have a golf club through it the first time you stop quickly?

What a bizarre car. It’s a bitsa compilation as usual. Take a 720 chassis, make it uglier (whoever designs the noses on McLarens needs to be out of their misery pronto), put cheaper engine and suspension bits in, add metal garnish to exhaust tips and some nobs, and voila! Another ‘new’ McLaren! Any tuner could have generated this.

Still, it will probably be an awesome used car bargain in 2-3 years time...

McLaren makes some really, really quick vehicles. However, they are not very comfortable and I wonder if this may have that issue. As the GT is based on the same Monocell II structure, modified for cargo, I doubt they engineered more space for people larger than five foot nine inches. The comparative room inside a 911 is commodious. But good luck McLaren! Move that metal and try making money.....
Well for a car company that has been around for only 9 years and have sold there 20,000th car i don't think they are doing to bad for themselves. Im sure they they will be very pleased to get your good luck message but i'm not sure they need it.

Hmm, driving a Mclaren or be herded and crammed onto massive pressurized tube of seething resentment, farts and desperation ?
Exactly. McLaren are great on long roadtrips, very comfortable, not too noisy, quick when needed, over 30mpg at 140kph. Bentleys may be plusher inside, but cars like the Aston Rapide certainly are not.

LotusOmega375D, you're missing one of the few remaining pleasures of motoring, a drive to/up/round The Alps (or similar) in your own time. Beats waiting at Luton airport for Easyjet to allow you to queue in the stairwell then sit in someone else's sick (I fly a lot too, but its no holiday unless long haul/not economy).

As a six ft 4 tall GT owner I can confirm this is bullst. They're very comfortable too. Has ManyMotors ever ridden in one?

I wish, but I doubt it since it also controls the HVAC and other things.

Have to say it looks good But if you want a grand tourer with power why not go for a Bentley as your golf clubs won't be bouncing around in the corners.

These are also called "GT" by their manufacturers ..... doesn't mean they actually are Grand Touring cars.

I had high hopes for this. I'm disappointed. It's pleasant enough, but a bit bland. Biggest beef is that the leading edge of the bonnet/front is way too high. It's not an amphibious vehicle; a lower snout would have pleased me no end.

Hey ho; not as if I am a buyer....yet... ;-)
