The k20 is only putting out a third of the power and half the torque of an ej20, and they are still known to go pop too. No engine is infallible.
Erm:K20 - 197 - 230bhp / 150-167lb/ft - Nat-Asp
EJ20 - 220 - 320bhp / up to c.300lb-ft - FI
...so your stats are a little adrift, and you're comparing apples with oranges due to the induction method - there are blown K20s on stock internals running 400bhp, and built engines running 4-figures in the drag scene.
And besides, the only K20s that fail are due to abuse (oil starvation or similar, as above). EJ's have a torrid rep...
And no the only K20s that fail are not just due to poor maintenance. Plenty have gone pop even as standard and certainly when boosted. To suggest otherwise is either deluded or misinformed. Look it up.
Well done for noticing that I was comparing turbocharged Ej20 with N/A K20 as that is how they come as standard from the manufacturer. Comparing modified to unmodified is even more apples vs oranges.

1/3 of 320 = 106.7, so nothing remotely close to the output of the K20
I suspect your wording is what is incorrect in your earlier post.

My figures are broadly correct as you point out, not sure what sort of point you think you are making there. Feel free to work out the fractions more precisely if it helps you.
Look at my job.
Muppet.
I don't usually look up peoples profiles but I can see why you might be upset being such a specialist and all. Most boring profession ever.

Sorry, slip of the tongue, I meant 2 thirds of the power and half the torque.

And what do you do to look down your nose at others exactly?I don't usually look up peoples profiles but I can see why you might be upset being such a specialist and all. Most boring profession ever.

Sorry dear but I wasn't looking down my nose at anyone. I also wasn't the one bringing peoples profession into things. Seems odd that you are so curious about such things.Foolish.
Is this really all because I dared mention that a turbocharged might rev as high as this N/A car? Get the pitchforks. The Honda love sure does seem somewhat fanatical.

Not really. It’s just obvious you don’t know that much about K20’s. Are you just a desperate troll who doesn’t like facts or plain rude when someone questions you? Builder eh, do you have an accountant yourself?

I hope these drive better than the EP3 otherwise it's a dead duck in the water for me
Considerably better drive than the UKDM EP3 type R... there's a big difference in handling beyond the shared engine and gearbox. Hydraulic PAS on teh DC5 for starters.Never driven a UK EP3 to compare though.
I used to be a Honda man but now I firmly believe Subaru build the best cars ever.
Amazing handling and with 4wd they are brilliant in the rain and snow. I can drive at 90mph on the fast lane of the motorway in the streaming rain knowing I can't aquaplane. The turbocharged engines leave everything behind - by the time those stupid K20 things having wound up, I am long gone.
And as for every BMW that tries to race me, I just show them what 4wd and a boxer engine can do.
See ya' later losers...

I preferred driving the JDM EP3 to the DC5. Just found it more fun and chuckable.

Not much in them chassis wise past the thicker rear ARB, big difference is the shorter gearing and LSD. Even the claimed 210-220bhp on the JDM all but disappears once UK fuel is in it. Never driven a UK EP3 to compare though.

It really does seem that the average Subaru owner is an absolute socket Amazing handling and with 4wd they are brilliant in the rain and snow. Only problem with most practical Hondas is you can't power oversteer them. Which is obviously a big issue..
I always used to try and get at least one drift in on the school run - there were a couple of cracking roundabouts!

Not sure that your average Civic driver is much better (I'm certainly not! ), but you're spot on. We're next to a reputed Scooby tuner and whilst the guys running it are sound, some of the customers you come across...havoc said:

Time will tell if it was the right decision...
