Personally i think they have nailed the styling on this.
Certainly one of the better looking offerings of E-SUV.
Mustang branding doesn't particularly bother me, and it doesn't really matter what they could have called it, someone will moan about it.
If it makes money for Ford to keep making real V8 Mustangs and RS products then more power to them.
Best of luck Ford.

I think it's quite clever of Ford. Those that revere the Mustang brand are least likey to but an EV. See Honest John article

So Ford start from a position of SUVs are what people want, EV is the future and some people will want a performance/ish version. Not for me but I can appreciate the logic.

Surprised no one has speculated how much this thing is going to cost.
Variants and prices are already published.See the UK and US product pages at 4:47 AM today in this thread here:

Second, the range, even if its truthful, and in all weather conditions, is still useless.
The extended range one will travel further than my car will on a tank of fuel. A genuine 300 miles plus makes it pretty useable for a large number of people. There will always be outliers who travel from one end of the country to the other without stopping etc.I do get the point about charging. It’d work for me because I have a drive where a charger could be installed. However there are lots of people who park on the street etc. EV’s won’t work for them.

Why is it so... slow?
I'm amazed more people are not talking about how slow it is compared to the Tesla 3.The US product page claims a range-topping best of 0 to 60 MPH in about 3.5 seconds.

The model will initially be launched with two battery pack sizes and three power outputs. The entry-level version will feature a single motor driving the rear wheels, with either a 75kWh battery and 254bhp motor or a 99kWh battery and 285bhp motor. Both produce 307lb ft, with a claimed 0-62mph time of under eight seconds and WLTP range of around 280 and 370 miles respectively.
The twin-motor all-wheel-drive version is offered with a 75kWh battery and 254bhp, or 99kWh and 332bhp. Both versions provide 429lb ft and a sub-seven-second 0-62mph time, with estimated ranges of 260 and 335 miles. Charging is available through an AC home charger or via DC fast chargers at up to 150kW
Bare in mind a Hyundai Kona sits around the 7 second mark depending on who does the testing, a Model 3 SR is 5.6 and a Corsa-E is still sub 8 secs. The twin-motor all-wheel-drive version is offered with a 75kWh battery and 254bhp, or 99kWh and 332bhp. The GT version sounds like it'll have the performance but not the range I need.

My son - 17 and just about to take his driving test - only cares about electric cars, which are deeply cool and interesting to him in the same way the ICE cats are deeply uncool and old. He’s applying for mechanical engineering at Uni, this is the future folks.
He’s even making me question my adherence to ICE, and until 6 months ago I owned three V8s.
Without meaning to be rude, his opinion might well change once he can actually drive and has driven some proper cars. He’s even making me question my adherence to ICE, and until 6 months ago I owned three V8s.
Also electric is far from the only possibility going into the future. I was reading that there is a lot of research being done into bio fuel from algae, for example.
I personally feel, and I could be wrong of course, that electric might be superseded or atleast rivalled by a renewable flammable fuel.
I certainly have my fingers firmly crossed!

Compare it to the model Y not 3.
It will be a heavier car, the battery packs are larger and heavier per kWh too. Its also less efficient (by about 36-40% over the model Y).
0-60 in mid 3s isnt slow, even the other are not really slow.
The Model Y Long Range AWD is rated at <5 seconds to 60mph and a WLTP estimate of 314 miles. That's considerably better than the long range Mach-E.It will be a heavier car, the battery packs are larger and heavier per kWh too. Its also less efficient (by about 36-40% over the model Y).

It's just a shame I don't really want a Tesla, but think I'll end up getting one anyway until the rest of the competition narrows the performance gap.

Burning stuff is old and bad, if anything kids will start seeing ICE cars in a poorer light over time.
