This is the kind of car I would love to see up close because it is such an extreme style , but have no desire to actually own one regardless if the price was pin money for me.

Weren't the Max Power crowd sticking capacitors in their boot about 20 years ago to help with "da bass"? biggrin

Another pointless plaything for those with nothing else to buy. Of all the things to buy at this price point I think you’d have to have a mental age of 7-8 to want one smile
Wealthy and into cars: how dare they?
Different taste to yours: how dare they?

You can pay £x million for something designed by Gordon Murray or Adrian Newey that has incredible engineering, or you can pay £x million for an Aventador with a body kit and a 48v battery.
The two are not mutually exclusive. I think you'll find that the demographic buying those cars can afford more than one.

Sorry I just don't get it. Surely anyone spending 2M+ on one of these knows it's an Aventador underneath?

For the majority of owners I don't suppose the specifics of the underpinnings matter too much. It'll be bought for the looks, because its the latest thing & for winning at top trumps down at the racetrack/golf course/shisha lounge/Oligarch annual picnic

In the same way anyone spending £1.5m on a Bentley Bacalar knows it's a Continental GT underneath.
The same also applies to many of the limited edition / coachbuit cars from McLaren, Bugatti, Aston Martin etc that are based upon 'standard' production models.

And crucially of course the infamous Kings Road unfortunately the established proving ground for most Lambos.

A limited edition Lambo is a Veblen good; the demand is because its price is so high. Mr Sian won't give a monkeys if Mr Model S turns up to the start line of the traffic light GP and wins by 0.2s, because any old pleb can save up and afford a Tesla. How fast it is isn't the point (otherwise he'd have just bought an SVJ). How much it costs, is. To be clear, this isn't my way of thinking, but it's important to recognise that Lamborghini are not marketing this car to late middle age, middle class British guys.

Furthermore, will owners lose money on this? I can't find any information online regarding how much the Reventon is changing hands for, but my guess would be that this car will hold in value or appreciate - especially given the impending doom of the conventional ICE - which would also justify the price.

It looks rather magnificent. Very OTT as a Lambo should be.

Great explanation for the need for this car. And a new word for me, Veblen good.

Please let there be such a thing. Brilliant, just brilliant, the image keeps growing in my imagination and is taking on a life of its own.

Btw, small point not wishing to detract from the Lambo, in Casino Royale, the Aston Martins used were DB9s made to look like the unreleased DBS that was coming. Only mentioning this to send affection to the DB9 which is occasionally criticised for not being a motion picture Bond machine..... but it was there in spirit!

So true. Might look better post-accident though (pun intended)
