Perhaps an odd question, is the boot big enough for a set of golf clubs (and bag)?

I’m currently in an M2c, have had three Exiges and a 4C, and thinking this car would give me the thrills of the Lotus but with a bit more comfort (getting old with a knackered clutch foot).
Rather like the look of the satin grey and orange ‘S’ that are for sale.

Pah. Everyone knows people buy Caymans because they can't handle a real Porsche.. smile
People buy Caymans because they want to moan about Alpine biggrin
Yep very odd behaviour. A good car is a good car, irrespective of what badge is on the nose. I don't care what anyone thinks about what I drive and buy what meets my needs.

Some people do get quite emotional about things. smile
If I want to buy an Alpine do I need to be the sort of fragile person who is far too easily triggered by lazy trolling? smile
Lazy trolling you say...

Sorry, should have added more colour maybe. Even if tennis was your thing you'd be struggling! The boots will take enough stuff for 2 people for a week or so away but they're strange shaped and have no length at all. Your clubs would fit in the passenger footwell if you have no friends though!

It’s a good car but it falls short , in my view, of being a great car. The quality of the interior, the infotainment, the uncomfortable legende seats
That's an interesting perspective - there's some discussion on the Emira thread about why it's so much heavier than the Alpine, and Alpine owners are rejecting the suggestion that the Emira's interior might be a bit plusher.

I think we’re rather questioning whether it takes an additional 350kg to provide soft touch plastics…

Don’t all golfists travel alone anyway?
There is plenty of space but, as Mannginger says, it’s odd shaped. An electric guitar can fit behind the seats.

Ha.
I’m not a golfist by any stretch of the imagination- my lad is though and I have to take him.
I guess I couldn’t even get my small coffin sized cricket kit bag in either?

Plenty of room in the boot for all the kit you would need for a weekend of swinging.

Sadly only in the passenger seat again. I used my MX5 when I was playing cricket, that was a decent shaped boot. Next year when I play again it'll be the sensible car or the spare seat that'll be being used

I guess the extra quality all adds up, but not 350kg

When I take my boy his bag squashes in the boot and his cricket stick goes behind the seats of the front boot is full.
I’d recommend you take your kit to a dealer and see if it fits.

Quite a few people are upset that this car exists, I think that's good? spin

I've had my "Orange Sanguine" S for over 2 months now - it's a flawed car in terms of quality of plastics & infotainment, but apart from that, it's bloody brilliant. Absolutely no regrets with the actual car.

Apropos of not a lot, just to say that if anyone fancies driving an Alpine on track you can do so at Thruxton for £130 or so. Not only that, but you get to drive a Cayman as well (albeit an older model) so you can compare... I did it to see which I liked best and then put a deposit down on an Emira... but then I'm a Lotus maniac.

I think a handful might, possibly with more than one forum handle!

the real issue is with people not opening up to different choices when thinking of a sports car rather than any hate.

Hmmm, three year old Alpine or a brand new Porsche for the same money. I think I can guess which will be the more popular choice.

Bits and pieces add up. 10% larger floor plan, plusher interior, then more mass requires bigger brakes, more power, more power means more robust drivetrain, etc. Just thought it was an interesting perspective from an owner (now a couple of owners) because I had got the impression that the Alpine interior was uncompromised by the requirement for lightness. Not that it would bother me, I like my Elise, but clearly it matters where Lotus are taking the brand. Anyway, a diversion from the Alpine.

Mmm money. Who cares about chassis ability when you have an extra fiver for lunch?

Do people really care about a few quid when it comes to buying and driving what you want (within reason)?
