About, ohh, a month ago I was in the ' I think i'm gonna get one camp'.
Now, im in the 'just waiting for the right one to come along' camp. I've fallen head over heels in love with the idea. I'm after, ideally ,I think,a base spec 1.8 UK car. Id rather get the bigger engine and no toys, than a special edition 1600, as things like braces/fancy steering wheels/leather seats can all be purchased on ebay and what have you afterwards. And making it my own is hlaf the reason I want one.
I've got the cash in the bank, and Im on trader/ebay every day hunting. Soon, soon.
Get a test drive in one. Some people think thats theres a bit too much MX5 love in this forum, but I 'get' it totally now. You will love it.

I went for a 1.8 import - as mine is a daily driver I appreciate the extra toys. A/C is more useful than you would think for demisting and when you have to have the hood up on a hot day - black fabric makes it stifling inside! Plus you get the torsen LSD as standard.
Not driven a 1.6 which I understand is more revvy, but the 1.8 is a nice engine and 130bhp is a good start in this car

To be honest I do go out on the occasional hoon with the roof up
Usually when it's dark and a little bit chilly, or during the day when it's not that pleasant, but dry enough for a hoon.Roof comes down as soon as the sun's out though, or the temperature is respectable
