Have you tried speedway?

Well I have.

The other day I was going round the track when some idiot left a ramp out.

I was doing about 100 mph coming round the bend. People in the crowd said if he hits that ramp he's definately dead.

I hit the ramp, did a somersault in the air, landed on my wheels, took my helmet off and said "whats the problem?"

'friend' at work, has a supra TT, quick car for it's day i'm sure, and very capable if modded - but for him to tell me his 0-60 is the same as my old E55 amg - 5.5 supercharged V8 somehow I find it hard to beleive! Seems to beleive he raced an E46 M3 and kicked it's ass.... very impressive for a bog standard Supra 3.0 turbo!
Watch this video. The Supra is only running about 330bhp which is only around 10 more than stock.

My so-called friend (a 17 yr old girl) owned a Fiat Cinquecento, apparently capable of hitting 90mph on a small straight near my house. I once sat in as a passenger, needless to say it didn't do anything like this, although I can safetly say I've never been so scared in my life. It was like sitting in a tupperware box on wheels and I swear I'm never getting in a car with her again.
hehe

But you can hit 90mph if it's downhill and you're in the Sporting model.
Saw an indicated 115mph from my Seicento Sporting on more than one occasion. Probably no more than 90-ish but very exciting!!

hehe only if you're standing under the bridge that the HGV is crossing at the time.. (and the bridge fails to collapse...)

Lie 1: Friend of friend tells me that a Golf is a great car because if it oversteers you can catch it by "shifting down two gears and flooring it"

Lie 2: Some guy wanted a drag race against my Alfetta GTV, in his mum's standard Mazda 626 (from 198something). I don't know how fast that 626 was, but his secret, guaranteed win technique was to start in 2nd gear, which sounded unlikely.

Delusion 1: All those people who have survived major car accidents and, regardless of what kind of car they were driving, are convinced they would have been killed if they had been driving any other car.

Delusion 2: Similar to above except people who have lost control and spun, and are convinced they would have rolled in any other car.

Delusion 3: All such people mentioned above attribute the accident/spin to anything other than their driving, and claim that the reason they 'controlled the spin/skid/roll' was entirely down to their own skill and ability.

See the Nissan GTR is slower than a Porsche Turbo thread!

Not so much a fib but .. neighbour opposite me who has a Fiat 500 in his garage, walks over to my car (968) and points to the plastic fuel cap cover 'is it new? not very well made are they?' .. f8cking ignoramuses.

I like the owner of this video
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=wEf2FdZGMVQ&feat...

I posted this message

At 0:04 he drives off, he hits about 62-63mph at 0:12 sec. (which would equal 60 mph, all Speedos over read by a few mph)
With my basic maths skills that adds up to 8 seconds, how did he manage to lope two seconds of his time?
I quite like Mondeo's don't get me wrong. The St200 I drove was excellent.

Bullst car owners on the other hand............

He replied:
hill, k&n, resistor over air temp sensor etc
Just posted this on his little video

It isn't 6secs, it is more like 7-8sec. Seeing as you would need around 20bhp at the wheels, not flywheel, extra to gain -0.5 sec 0-60, you "extra mods" would only at best bring it down to 7.2.

Mondeo ST24, bhp=171, 0-30=2.8, 0-60=7.9, 0-100=21.9, 1/4 mile sec=16.5, 1/4 mile speed=88. These are figures from ford.

You would need a indicated 105-110 on the speedo to actually be doing 100mph, and you never get to 100mph, I would say that you car is running exactly the same figures as normal ST24.

Stupid man, posts up evidence contrary to the facts he is claiming, durrrrrrrrrr
Nope...nope he's bound to post up some race he had/thinks with another car claiming he beat it. I think sometimes you can't get through to some people, I gave in when he listed his 'Mods'.

Just recalled another.

Bloke in my local happily told me how he'd just got back form Italy where he'd bought an ancient Ducati & ridden it all the way back over the Alps & sold it for huge profit.

He forgot that only 3 days before he'd been saying how much fun that would be & regretting that he had no bike license, money or ability to speak Italian.

Instead of pointing this out to him I just asked, why, if he'd got all this profit, he was lurking at the end of the bar trying to scrounge drinks.

But you can hit 90mph if it's downhill and you're in the Sporting model. They're not that bad. Good fun, too, once you're used to the fact that a 4'6" dizzy mother in her Cayenne would kill you in the blink of an eye while she's telling her wonderful Joshua off for dropping his lolly on the rear leather passenger seats.
I once got a Fiat 126 up to 90 mph down ROSE Hill, Near longbridge. Stopping was not fun.
Always used to test any car I had bought up Rose Hill, if it went up in top gear without pinking or smoking then it was deemed ok!

It was also the main hill that all the Longbridge testers used, suprised more people were not killed there. Plenty of holes in the Rose & Crown wall though!

the resident tosser in my office reckons his Golf 1.6 Driver (mk2) can hit 60 in 6.9seconds - He claims he has had the "ECU" tuned even though its running on a carb! oh and a bog standard engine - When I offered him a quarter mile against an R26 F1 - he politely declined - WHAT A MORON!!!

My old bike had an ECU for the ignition but carbs for the fuel/air, so that bit isn't impossible. Also, no need for MkIIs to be slow either: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-dNDnXmXAQ

However, the chances are, the guy in your post was still talking crap!

Bloke I knew in the trade bought a car from a fellow trader only to find the guy had taken 100,000 of the clock & wouldn't take it back.

So he bought a Vauxhall Carlton estate that had been used by an antiques dealer for 450,000 miles & removed the 400, cleaned it up a bit & traded it to the guy who sold him the other car.

Then made sure the whole town knew about it.
