There is a bog standard looking Smart car somewhere with a tweaked Hayabusa engine driving the rear wheels, take a peek on Youtube. He pulls up next to a Ferrari F430 for a drag race, bet the Ferrari driver was feeling smug until the green light came on.

Now THAT is good reverse badging. Keep it looking boggo but stick a huge engine in it so it'll piss all over most things with an internal combustion engine!

If I remember rightly, though, the F430 time is a fair way off what they have been known to do. Still impressive, all the same.

I've removed all badges just so I can clean the car properly. They get gunk all under/around them anyway.

Up-badging, down-badging, and mis-badging are all pretty questionable, even if you have modified your car, in my view. The odd uber discrete one is fine where warranted, but that is it (ie, a subtle silver S an inch high if you have spent £4000 supercharging your Z3 smile )

We need a link to that car trader who puts numerous badges all over their cars hehe

yes Saved me 180 grams of superfluous badging on the saab, too. wink

This car had 2x TURBO on the sides of the clamshell, bonnet, 1x 'turbo' in the grill, and "SAAB 900 TURBO" on the tailgate. After I'd finished with it, it had no badges but instead of the 145 bhp non-intercooled 8 valve turbo engine it had a lump with over twice the power (with suspension and brakes to match)... evil

Thing is, you don't fool onyone with debadging either if you were so inclined... I remember to be looking for a parking sport in a forest park, minding my own business and a little buy was shouting to his Dad 'look, a Saab 900 Turbo!' redface

I know someone with a V6 badge on their X-reg Saxo Forte 1.1, did have toilet-paper viperstipes up it one day. - Ok because it's a joke

Someone with a boggo '98 Peugeot 206 1.1 LX with standard hubs, WRC livery and VW Golf MK4 GTI (1.8T) badge on the back. - Not OK because it looked aweful and the badges were clearly in a different font and in the wrong place, Peugeot do GTI badges why not get one of them!?

There's someone in Godalming driving a mk1 Audi TT Coupe with RS badges on the back, and down the sides. - Not cool because they don't make a TT-RS and where there is RS on the side Audi use V6TFSI, V8, V10TFSI or V10 instead

My uncle has a tuned mk1 TT Roadster with S-Line badges infront of the rear wheel-arches. - Ok I suppose because at least they are Audi badges and they're where you'd find them on a A4 Avant

Now I wish I'd kept the photos on my phone of an old Renault 5 covered in badges all over from every manufaturer and model range over teh last god know how many years.

That'll be because there actually was a TT S-line... wink

More details on that please?

From what I thought, the TT S-Line or LeMans in Europe were Coupes in either Red or Avus Silver with RS4 alloys and either grey or red leather interiors. About 200 came to the UK?

Ok, it's not mis-badged, but the turbo badges have been removed from the Volvo...when it was running increased boost, it was somewhat of a sleeper biggrin

It's not too shabby now

i think it's just to show people like these up. thinking...oh it's like a 1980's 1.8 piece of crap. then all of a sudden it's a car which gets to 60 in under 6 seconds haha

This needs to become an FPNable offence.

It's a good car in its own right, it doen't need to masquerade as anything else, particulary when the badge is completely wrong.

In Bath I spotted a Nissan Micra 1.0 K11 with a V6 or V8 badge stuck on it (think I have a picture on my phone somewhere)

Then today on the M4 I spotted a current shape Corolla with a Toyota motorsport badge stuck on the back and a V6 badge, yet it was absolutely the basic spec model

Why bother?
