Because they're thinking "I've been sat here queueing for ages, this tt thinks he can just skip the queue and push in, I'm going to stop him."
And why the heck not? If you want to queue jump, buy a car with dents and scratches all over it, so people won't risk getting hit. Its a good psychological weapon.

Or Don't queue jump.
It's not queue jumping, it is merging in turn.
Cutting into the correct lane, having driven down the incorrect lane with the express purpose of jumping a queue isn't merging in turn.
That wasn't how I understood what he was saying. I took it to mean a dual carriageway, going to one lane, and he was going down the right hand side lane as far as he could then merging, which in my opinion is NOT rude, and not arrogant, just using the maximum road space. It;s called merging. Looking at the map that he was talking about, if he was cutting into the designated lane for the M4/A4 whichever it was, then that is wrong.

Does anyone on PH see the merge in turn/zipper method to be good, or do most of you get on your high horse??
no. 2 lanes which merge onto the M4, and a 3rd "right lane", which the OP originally said he was going down (and back tracked).
And when someone pointed out the fact, I said "indeed"...

You all seem to want a villan here. I go down the right hand of the two merging lanes for the M4. For sport I thought I would wind robatr0n up by not disagreeing that I go down the A4 lane. But that's not given you the villan that you want so you ignore (or call it back tracking) when I tell you the facts. I truly wish I hadn't gone fir a bit of sport with Robatr0n. Would it help if I said sorry?

By the way, what's wrong with the R-Class? It's a really good car.

I know exactly where you mean OP, having thought about it. I often work in Chiswick. People queue in the two left lanes right back to the Chiswick roundabout. However, the right hand lane is for the A4 only, and it is people who use that lane and then cut in at the last minute who are dicks. I can't see how you could possibly scoot up the middle lane in rush hour as its always full, at least back to the traffic lights.

There is some small mitigation in the fact that the junction is extremely poorly designed, but that doesn't excuse queue jumping.

In actual fact, I shall be going that way tomorrow, and shall keep an eye out for you. Virtual rocket launcher on standby.

A rather amusing game is 'forcing' a last second cutter in (knob) straight on, thus maximising their stress. M4 Eastbound to M25 is a good spot for that. There is always some tosser who try to cut in at the very last second. Match their speed, force them to miss junction. I have done this succesfully a few times, fantastic.

Why should decent people who have been patient enough to play by the rules allow for these selfish mongs though? If you're going to gamble, you've got to expect to lose sometimes.

It drives me mad when selfish drivers do this, showing no respect to those who have been patiently waiting.
Taking the vigilante approach like this is dicing with danger, there is no way of knowing how the other person will react, and puts both parties, and other road users, at considerable risk!

I suppose so.

I think every incident like this has to be dealt with on its own merits. I'm not in the habit of holding these people off, but I certainly don't make any extra room for them.

Sod 'em.

Reading this post, I just wish next to the "My Mates" up above, there was the option of having another option, called "Knob Heads", and I could make a list of them.

So when I feel like a laugh, I could do a quick search and be reminded of their arrogance, and what cocks they are.
laugh

Yeah, I could just do my own searching, but I would prefer to have an official list, and be able to tell them that they have just been added to my Knob Heads list. We could also have a KH'er of the Year award.hehe

And don't you think that it happens only because people like you let them in, afraid of confrontation and "dangerous" situation?
If they would face a near crash experience EVERYTIME they behave like tts I'm sure they would learn eventually. It's like with bullies, if nobody will have the balls to stand up to them of course their bad behaviour will continue.
For me, my principles are much more important than my car and I will stand up to them EVERYTIME.
I don't queque jump, I always give way when I have to etc. and I expect the same from other road users. And I fking hate bullies!

Well said smile

I used to do a cheeky move regularly thats totally legal but still a gamble and sometimes I'd lose. Three lanes of traffic at lights, 1 & 2 continued on but 3 merged after the lights. As a result most people just didn't use 3 for fear of getting stranded, the room to merge is minimal. A bit further along was the slip road off that I wanted. So I'd go in lane 3 and accelerate harder than everyone else, merge infront then across to lane 1 in two motions and off at the slip road all legal. However occasionally I'd get someone on the inside after the merge that'd see's what i'm going to and match my speed and make me miss the junction.

I would shrug smile to myself, maybe utter "bd" under my breath and get the next exit. They are in the wrong as I'd be doing no wrong, no signed roads involved. However they knew they wanted to get off so got themselves in the closest lane well in advance and as a result queued for a while, so understandably thought "git", I do understand. smile

People do that so to drive down the outside of marked lanes to cut in at the last moment, well its obvious people won't let you in, why should they? You took the piss gambling, you must know odds are not in your favour for no reaction or someone waving you in and also theres a decent chance you'll miss the junction.

Why are you blaming me for defending my principles when I'm RIGHT and I haven't caused the situation in first place? I'm the guy in the queque, get it? I FOLLOW THE RULES, he doesn't. Shall I just bend over like you?

I know this road very well, and unfortunately most of those s won't miss the exit if blocked, they will just slam the brakes and block some more INNOCENT people on the A4. And the same thing happens EVERY DAY on the other side, just before the Hammersmith flyover. Evry fking cun in London thinks they are better than rest and they go all the way in wrong lanes trying to cut in just in front of the flyover. And again me and thousands of innocent motorists are stuck in traffic all the way back to Hogarth's roundabout.

1) I was actually answering THIS thread:

2) No I'm not one of the 'Think of the children' brigade.

3) I'm into my driving and get pissed off by those who are slow, incompetent or just can't drive..But, arrogant cocks like you just make it more difficult for those of us who enjoy our driving to justify keeping speed limits high and the roads enjoyable to 'make progress' on.
Yes, people who drive without regard to courtesy and respect for other road users are bullies and should be dealt with, but not in this way...Now tell us how your attitude is different to theirs as they jump past a queue of cars thinking "I've just shown you"!
