If it's a plug in hybrid that means it will have a limited range in hybrid mode.
Better then to throw out the additional weight of the batteries, electric motors and other paraphanalia and the performance would improve dramatically.
Dear oh dear, there are still some that will fight this corner... it amazes me.Better then to throw out the additional weight of the batteries, electric motors and other paraphanalia and the performance would improve dramatically.
I suppose the earth is flat and evolution never happened, right?
Don't normaly like these sort of eco ish type things, but if you have too then its nice to see one that sounds as good as this does. Once again Porsche trying hard to keep ahead ( Ignoring the cayanne ) and give us something exciting to look forward to before we are all flying around in automaticaly piloted bubble car blackboxed goverment regulated destrction day type crap
78mpg, 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, 7.30 'Ring lap, Hmmmmm, its amazing what they can predict on a computer! They can't even get the 911 round the 'Ring that quick after nearly 50 years!!
I'd also like to know what they predict the fuel consumption to be during a 7m30s lap! Maybe chuck a decimal point in between the 7 & 8! Green Supercar? Doesn't really work does it? It's like Fun Run and police Intelligence! The two shouldn't go together!
Lots of electric hatch backs and vans would be nice, meaning more petrol for me!

Having read all the comments on this thread there are certainly a lot more thumbs up than thumbs down on the styling front, which is rather different to the Mp4 12C and 458 Italia threads where it seemed more 50-50.
I can see this slotting in above the 911/GT2 turbo bracket and competing against the 2 cars mentioned above.
As long as they don't water down the styling like they did with the boxster of course.

Right! Time for the petrol engine to give way to electric. The petrol engine is the dodo.
As apparently is the manual gearbox. But that doesn't mean that there aren't people (they're called 'enthusiasts'!) who find pleasure in both. Not all technological advances are for the better...and everyone has a different definition of 'better'!

What a joke. Laps the 'Ring in 7m 30s and does 78mpg? Possibly, but not at the same time.
I could get the same result by fitting a milk-float engine to a TVR. Or a V8 to a milk-float.
exactly...the CO2 and MPG numbers are I think if it runs on elec only.....for a range of 25km.....I could get the same result by fitting a milk-float engine to a TVR. Or a V8 to a milk-float.
the 7min 30 and 3 sec 0-60 is is in full on climate change mode...

If it did 78 mpg and a 7.30 ring time at the same time it'd probably have to produce more fuel than it uses as it goes round.I could get the same result by fitting a milk-float engine to a TVR. Or a V8 to a milk-float.
Yes, you could perhaps get that result from fitting a milk float engine to a TVR, assuming you fitted it to the front wheels and left the V8 powering the rears... And had the ability to make a suitable control system.
I don't see how that dimishes the achievement...
