If the five million was going to be purely spent on cars then that might just be enough. A Zonda as one of my moderns would cost me about £750k at current prices, and I would have to add about 200k to that to have Pagani customise it to my spec.

I tend to spend way too much time in the back pages of Classic & Sports Car, Octane and Motorsports magazines circling the cars I would love to buy.

I would also put in a call to Simon Kidston to start searching for those dream classics you never see in the adverts.

As I said I could easily spend five million on just one car of my dream classics if I had the choice, I think a more reasonable budget would be Twenty Million biggrin

First thing I'd do is nip to the showroom and buy myself a brand new V8 Volvo S80. Waftastic without being obnoxious.

Then I could use that car to travel all round the country arranging to pick up classics and modern classic from classifieds. smile

Oh, would need to buy the OH something brand new too, she's always wanted a spanking new car.

2nd hand (approved used or pre-reg) car for me. I want to drive my car on day one, not wait two months for delivery!

In my case it would probably be a Mercedes estate or a FFRR, and if I liked what I got then I would order a brand new version knowing exactly which options to pick.

Classifies. I'd buy very, very few new cars.

I'd hunt the classifieds for cars that I KNOW I'd want (80s and 90s stuff like M5s, Skylines, special Imprezas, evos, cosworths, etc) and classic car auctions with a car transporter out back to buy anything that took my fancy.

Then I'd have a fooking MASSIVE warehouse kitted out with Snap on tool chests, 2 poster ramps, etc where anything would be stored. Friends and family are welcome to come and drive what they like for as long as they like (just as long as nobody else wanted use of that car, if so they'd have to arrange "bookings" for it). I'd live in this warehouse (almost literally - One floor would be converted into a posh flat) spannering away on the cars that I've always dreamed of until the day I died smile.

Just need to make some money now...

That's one reason I'd have a nearly new Rangie, (plus I'm not keen on the new one) between that & current car I'd be ok until I'd found place to live.
I'd also be watching SOTW, with credit card in hand.

Straight down to BMW for either a 335d or 535d touring with every option box ticked, then across to Land Rover to buy a Range Rover Sport TDV8 with a complete options list chosen for the OH

Then I would buy the best Ford RS Models, A complete BMW M3 and M5 collection, and a Some Golf GTis I could find and be happy

Ohhh god I wish that could happen, I'm on holiday this week and it would be great to come home to that

I would really resent losing 20k or so on a car as I drive it out of the showroom, so I'd be to the classifieds to get my Blue F430..... And a DB7 Volante will be classfieds too...

....would you rush to your local shiny showroom, chequebook in hand, or head to your chosen classifieds?

I was just asked, and all I could answer was a list of classics or modern classics. I guess that means it's the classifieds for me. If my numbers ever come up I'll be the chap with the late 80's Aston and a Morris Ital......
.....no....first I would make sure I had a garage to accomadate at least a dozen cars......

You've just made up a load of bonkers numbers there.

I'm not going to pull it apart but for example why would you put 1m away and not receive any benefit from it? 4m earning a conservative 5% is 200k of spunkable money, granted it isn't 250GTO money but it would easily cover depreciation on a RR and a few classics - which is what most people seem to be looking for. If you chose your classics well, and I'm including 'modern' stuff over 10 years old here, you'd still retain your wealth through the asset and might even make a couple of quid once in a while.

5m is the new 'millionaire' level in my book.

A bit of both. But older motors appeal more

430s don't look stunning full stop.

The scuderia is 'ok'.

Assuming a hefty win.

I think I'd go and buy a nice 997 to get me round the various dealers/factories.
A new house would be built for me with a large garage.
After buying a couple of nice cars (probably a mix of old and new) I'd have a Clio Cup race car and enter the championship, running my team would be my day-to-day job. Work my way up the championships (if I can!) and enjoy motorsport.

Best out of any of the recent line up bar the 360CS IMO.

I should have said that my cars would include:
McLaren F1
Lambo Superleggera LP570-4
Lotus Exige
The 997 would be a GT3, as much as I'd be tempted by the RS I've got enough 'track' cars
