I find parking properly not near anyone else is also a good way to make sure you don't get door dings. Always think parking like this will just attract someone who'll squeeze their car into the remaining space, increasing the chance of the door dings they're trying to avoid.
Exactly. Alternatively I take the Landie with it's rock sliders instead of sills and park where I want biggrin

The gap to the right between the van and a small Cornish hedge was less than a foot wide, still saved them having to walk about 20m from somewhere sensible to park.
If they are tourists, I can see the issue.

If they are locals. I can see the issue.

Either way, they don't want anyone who's not of Cornish blood there.

From Twitter. Cars in front of house too long for the parking space available, then the black Mercedes blocking the remainder.

At my daughter’s college car park. This was actually an improvement after much discussion and attempts back and forth on the same lock.

Makes you wonder how some pass their test.

In the comments. " Here we go. Let's target people with big cars".

Choosing a car to fit your lifestyle includes having the space to park it without causing problems for everyone else.
I appreciate that this is not always possible but some people just take the piss.

That road looks tight for parking but even here with a 7 metre wide straight road with very few parked cars we still get vans blocking he pavement. confused

I reckon they've tried to line up using the blue car as a guide (that's also badly wonky)

Doubt their paintwork will remain pristine.

Quite, letting a stout nag barge its way through would be worth watching.

Sometimes it's deliberate ' I'm keeping plenty of space so no one opens their door into my pride and joy' type mentality.
Understandable. But the solution isn't to be selfish and inconsiderate. I can't get my head around that mentality, I'd rather have the dings than be a towards others.
I find it's nearly always possible to find a safe space nearby. Fan shaped spaces on corners, in line rather than bay, next to a pillar or other barrier and... ahem...end spaces! I can see one behind him in the pic ffs just like the red car to his right who has left plenty of space to park next to... irked
I’ve managed to avoid dings for years, without parking like a selfish and simply choosing an end space or empty part of the car park..

IMHO people are just use door dings as an excuse to feed their sad existence.

Same here, find a quiet space if you can. In our local Sainsburys I often see some quite expensive cars, Bently, one Ferrari once, and quite other newish expensive cars, they manage to park OK, without taking up more than one space.

Some are just selfish twunts.

My local Tesco last Friday afternoon.

Couple of tractors/works vans either side would have been nice...
Could it be that its broken down and left their ready to be picked up? Im sure the AA wouldn't leave the car in a parking space if they are recovering it/onward transporting it..
Or he could be an arse and dumped it like that..
Not broken down, we saw the owner coming out of the store just as we headed in, and off he went...

Can't imagine that a normal friday afternoon would be that busy, especially if it's a really large one with tons of parking. If it's in an area of the carpark that nobody parks/cant be bothered to walk from then I see no issue with it IMO.

Always try for an end space in my local Sainsburys next to a pavement or the road sections, like to get those on the drivers side so I can get all the way over to the right, leaving a big gap to my left between my passenger door and the next bay One prat still managed to hit the left hand corner of my rear bumper as he swung into his spot! Thankfully I was sat in the car getting ready to leave when he hit me. A real "WTAF!" moment as I got out to have to rein it back as his kids got out and he started apologizing, profusely. hehe Cosmetic damage only which he paid for without argument. So your not safe, even if it's not a ding it's someone not paying attention to actually driving! yikes

Daily moan, ignorant ICE drivers who not only abandoning their car in one of two EV bays, but make it just about impossible for another EV to get in, almost empty car park as well.

Almost certainly locals who know only too well they are EV bays.

Was just going to say... would never "key" a car intentionally, but if it scratches, it scratches.
