What do you drive? How much attention?

Only had this 5 weeks and already had several chats in car parks / petrol stations about it with strangers.
One negative is that I’ve already had an X3M, M2 and a Merc cab right up my chuff clearly trying to egg me on.
I’m too old for that st.
The Stelvio QV I had before it garnered zero response from anyone…

Obv. zero on a 3-Series wagon, but my old CLS55 got a surprising amount, and diversity of comments, it seems that a lot of people simply like that you're keeping something slightly older and more special in good nick and on the road.
Once at a petrol station I was approached by an cravat-and-blazer type old boy who came across to comment on the condition of the car, considering it was ~12yo at the time; upon seeing the side badge he also added "...and a V8 - oh mhhwerr!" (a noise I can only assume he normally saved for top-heavy barmaids.)

I drive a super rare, 1 of about 140 left in the UK, Citroen DS3 Racing. A horribly unreliably car that only a heroic petrolhead would attempt to run, attention-grabbing orange wheels/trim, a few silly stickers, a bombastic celebration of a historic rallying world championship and...... zero attention.
I like driving odd/unusual/rare cars, but the truth is the vast majority of people aren't interested in cars and something rare or quirky goes by unnoticed. The car I've owned that got the most attention, and the car I'd love to one day own again, is the Subaru Impreza WRX STI... You can't beat a boxer burble.

All the Alfas I ever had used to get a wave or flash of the lights from a lot of other Alfa owners.
The SZ used to get stares and people filming /taking photos on their phones when parked or driving through traffic but rarely did anybody come and start chatting about it.
Integrale attracts middle-aged men like crazy. I think I’ve had one female comment on it, positively.
205 GTI - nothing at all.

2013 Granturismo sport. Gets a decent amount of attention. Mostly positive, especially kids for some reason. Good few folk want a chat at petrol stations etc too. Unfortunately I also get the odd souped up hot hatch that wants to race which gets tiring after a while.
We also have a 2018 Swift, which is an anonymous bland Japanese machine, perfect for the city.

Definitely illegal in the UK and for very good reasons. Hopefully it'll attract some attention soon.QuadCamCapri said:
The E34 gets quite a bit of attention nowadays, strangest one was a couple of years ago filling up in South Mimms Services, had the race car on the trailer.
These lads got out of an Irish reg. minibus, came over and asked if they could take some pics., sure I said, assuming they meant the race car, they completely ignored that and all took pics of the E34
How much of that is actual Capri ?These lads got out of an Irish reg. minibus, came over and asked if they could take some pics., sure I said, assuming they meant the race car, they completely ignored that and all took pics of the E34

I've had this for just over a year now and have given up on counting photos and videos being taken. It was a bit unnerving at first but the number of thumbs up and nods of approval just keep on coming.
Can't ever bloody hide in it though as my Mrs and my mates know where I am all the time by looking on FB, TikTok, Twitter etc
I remember seeing one of these in that colour at my local Merc dealer...I couldn't take my eyes off it! Wonderful looking things to my eyes and I'd absolutely love one. Can't ever bloody hide in it though as my Mrs and my mates know where I am all the time by looking on FB, TikTok, Twitter etc
