Probably hit something which toppled them - the ESP on that car won't let you roll it over no matter how hard you try on a flattish bit of road.

Unless the ESP takes back control of the steering wheel, I'm not sure how thats possible

I don't know about that particular car, but some systems do take control of the steering now. My Volvo will steer itself (within limits) when adaptive cruise is on. I hate it!

That is the complete polar opposite of all those innate DCW videos.

Individual wheel braking has a lot more control than you would think, but it's not about steering, it's about the ESP controlling the bulk and stopping rollovers etc.

e.g. Tiff trying to beat it on an airfield: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-2UAfsbyZo

Even the wobbliest of them end up going where they should: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iA-IiKjyEf8

Note that the ESP is simply sending it as close as it can (safely) to the direction you're turning the wheel, if you saw backwards and forwards it'll end up averaging it out and you'll wobble down the road smashing each kerb-side.

Saw this on Faceache the other day and tracked down the video on YT.

Video is a bit grainy but wonder if the culprit will be tracked down?

UK motorway - RS6 - 200mph - looks like driver filming himself with one hand on the wheel!

Crikey that thing moves well to 160mph. As for the driver, well, instant lifetime ban would seem sensible.

200MPH is bad enough, but with some other vehicles around, one handed, whilst using/moving a phone camera with the other hand is beyond ridiculous.

Everything is bad about that video but I really don't have a problem with driving one handed. Everything else YES.

Yet there are other threads on here with people complaining about U.K. speed limits, and why can’t we have unlimited speeds like bits of the autobahn are.

It works better if other drivers are expecting cars to be travelling that fast. But where the limit is 70mph you don’t expect someone to have a closing speed of nearly twice that.

No problem with 200mph personally, on the right stretch of road at the right time.

As you can see from that idiot's video that RS4 can handle that kind of speed pretty easily.

But not on that road, as it's quite bendy at the start, and not with that much traffic.

I'd generally agree, but at 200mph? Can't say I've ever got quite up to that speed, but I'd expect two hands would really be needed at that point considering potential adjustments needed for road surface defects and slight bends, even in a very capable RS6.

I'd certainly say 70mph is too low, but maybe 200mph might be excessive, although depends on the vehicle, time, conditions, traffic, etc. I wouldn't be protesting against it though if autobahn-esque limits were introduced here though!

I've been driven in a car getting on for that speed on an autobahn and felt perfectly safe with a German local driving, but at least then when other drivers look in their mirror and pull out they should be anticipating that potential closing speed. They won't be in that video...

Try going along a track straight with an instructor at speed. You will get serious grief if you don't have both hands on the wheel.

Two hands is one of the biggest issues in that vid

Certainly doing that with one hand on the wheel is crazy, and on a UK motorway with a 100+ mph speed differential to other traffic is just silly.

Not yet cracked 200mph but even at 180mph+ on track, very much needed both hands on the wheel to make very very small corrections. Big steering inputs at that speed = death!
