How would you interpret the road layout/markings in this junction re cycles and vehicles and who has priority? Cyclist reckons the van should have stopped to let him turn right: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNTBOmcOTwM
Storm in a teacup. Bike could have chilled for 2 secs at it would have been a non incident, it's clear the poor road markings could easily be misread, so just ride accordinglySmoothCriminal said:
Surely if the cyclist wanted priority he should have went up on the pavement then used the cycle crossing?
I'm not sure that would have given the cyclist priority because the road layout is made-up bks. It's a one-way road for starters, would have to see the TRO it but might not be legal for cyclists to proceed in the opposite direction other than in the contraflow cycle lane. The giveway markings for vehicles could also be interpreted as giving priority only to vehicles merging from the left i.e. cyclists from the park. The relevant Local Authority Traffic Officers should be purged. The cyclist has a thread on a cycling forum I am also on. Fellow cyclists not in complete agreement with his pov, it's fair to say

Seems to be a bell end of the highest order....telling everyone he is right and everyone else is wrong.... another example of what is wrong with some people in this country.https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/poor-driving-fro...
Time to allow Darwinism take it's course and on his headstone he can have carved "I was right".....

Cyclist is a bell end, van driver will have seen a cyclist in a cycle lane and quite reasonably thought that is where he is going, dont know if he was indicating or not, assuming not.
I ride a bike and something like that I would see as my failing, not the van driver, cycling on the road isn't for you if something as pathetic as that gets you posting on YT and complaining to the Sainsburys.
You have to be deliberate, obvious and defensive on a bike, you have to assume nobody has seen you, assume that if you cant see past something there is a car or HGV lurking as the stakes are higher than some scratched paint and an insurance claim.
I save my ire for drivers being reckless, distracted and deliberately aggressive, not the 99.99% that are courteous and accommodate passing me carefully, I always try to acknowledge someone who has been helpful, knobbers like this really dont help the cause of cyclists, as bad as the righteous tossers in cars who absolutely hate cyclists though they arent really sure why.

Maybe he should get a £500 Halfords special and spend the rest on tuition.

Ditto - absolutely this. Most drivers I encounter whilst cycling are patient and courteous, it's a dangerous minority that I worry about (the majority I'm only cautious about!). Same with cyclists.I ride a bike and something like that I would see as my failing, not the van driver, cycling on the road isn't for you if something as pathetic as that gets you posting on YT and complaining to the Sainsburys.

Looks like he didn't indicate and just expected the van driver to be a mind reader as well

Right. You should try riding a bike with deep section rims in a gusty side wind, with your arm out to indicate where you’re going, whilst trying to aim for a tiny gap, and braking. I’d love to see it.

Aside from that I do like the camera he has, it's a shame that Garmin changed the form factor and made it so unwieldy compared to the original Virb. https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/poor-driving-fro...

New compilation video from Nottingham area
First clip - all well and good the biker complaining about the BMW driver, but certainly looks like the biker is guilty of a similar maneuvre, nipping past the inside of a lorry on the hashed lines before the roundabout?
9:32 - the car parked on the pavement, that'll be what's wrong with the pavement
(And before anyone does - please don't watch the full 10 mins - it's completely devoid of anything interesting. There's a nice noise from a mustang, and a people carrier with C**T on the side of it...but nothing else)

You are allowed on the hatched area in the first clip, i think the BMW cut across too many lanes without using his mirrorsNew compilation video from Nottingham area

Just a biker being a prick really, neither of them should've been doing that. Two knobs meet and all that.New compilation video from Nottingham area

Biker is in a no-man's land in the hatched area. I wouldn't do that albeit two lanes seem to be anticipated on the roundabout. Perhaps the hatched area has been put over what was previously a lane but, again, I wouldn't be where the bike was.

Anyone who believes otherwise, needs to hand in their licence.
