Loads of places do plates without the "legal requirements" Mine are legal font, material, in the correct colour/refelective front and rear - they just don't have a supplier name and the BS gubbins at the bottom from Gov site..

The backing doesn't de-laminate from the front and the black lettering doesn't ghost or fade over time
The fact that I can chose to have or not to have supplier name and BS gubbins on the bottom is an additional bonus.
Maybe this helps why - I don't keep dealer stickers on my cars and plates get replaced if they have dealer info on them - my cars aren't rolling adverts for supplying dealerships - they got my money for the car when purchased and don't pay me for continued advertising
Supplier details on the bottom of the registration plates is advertising too right?

I don't.......... I go to Fancy plates because the quality of their plates is so much better than local suppliers (ie Halfords or small motor factors)

Fair enough. Can't say I have ever even noticed the supplier name/postcode given it is barely even noticeable in being so tiny. Just seems almost a shame to comply with so much of the legalities only to omit 2 tiny markings that render the plates at risk of a jobsworth copper. I take it no issue come MOT time?

There is another reason I buy from on-line supplier - they don’t need me to provide reg doc or retention certificate either and they are with me 2 working days after ordering

None at all both my registration plates pre date the requirements to have the information on them - how does an MOT tester know that they aren’t 23 and 28 year old plates that have been swapped from car to car

I broke a plate at Donnington Park . I wanted a replacement that looked as close to the original as possible (so that it matched the rear). It had the BMW dealership along with Alpina and BMW badges. Sytner's wouldn't supply me with one as they said they could only supply legal plates (even though the original was made by them in 2005 when I first got the car). There is another reason I buy from on-line supplier - they don’t need me to provide reg doc or retention certificate either and they are with me 2 working days after ordering
I was able to send one of the online plate makers a jpg of the image I wanted. They put this on the plate and now the plate looks like it did before I kissed the Armco.
Ouch!

I first saw your plate in 1986 when it lived in Glasgow. My neighbour's ex husband owned it and he came to take their daughter out every Saturday. It was on a red 911 then.pingu393 said:

You should use the same plate manufacture as Craig, as he has 'illegal' plate on his Bemmer. well unless he can tell us otherwise ???
