Bought this guy a coffee today as he was working on the A3008 in Hampton.
In the couple of minutes we were chatting it seemed every other car was waving / tooting / giving a thumbs up!

What happened following that article about the LEZ signage not being lawful (therefore ULEZ signage not being lawful)?

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/08/28/ulez-s...

I'm guessing that fines are still being sent out etc. etc., - is it possible to challenge ULEZ tickets on the basis of the tribunal's ruling or has that been sorted out now?
Someone posted on one of the Facebook groups that they challenged 2 fines because of inadequate signage and won.

Thank you for the reply - it's Facebook so caution due, as always tongue out but it would seem worthwhile to at least have a punt at challenging a ticket. Well, presuming they are not trying the trick of removing the 'half price' offer if you do, in a blatant blackmail/coercion attempt...

Credit where it's due for creativity. hehe

In the meantime 9 million Londoners are getting on with life and no anti-ULEZ protest has ever numbered more than a few hundred people (and there was only one protest that big?).

We've seen in recent weeks how massive protests can be when people really care about something.

Yes, it’s remarkable how much effort people can put into demonstrating their fashionable opinions. Apparently some people still have their Ukraine decorations up. So last season.

Interesting stuff for the die hard Khan fans out there...

Misleading adverts about benefits of ULEZ -
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/11/18/sadiq-...

Remember when Sadiq said pay-per-mile wasn't on his radar? Perhaps because he "doesn't recognise" it by that name.. TFLs codenamed it Project Detroit. It was just a conspiracy theory, no? -
https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/sadiq-khan-...
Nearly 100 people working on it and he doesn't know what it is rofl

Either a terminal liar or a useless idiot
Project Detroit is quite a name given the steady decline of that once great city.
Sadiq Khan probably also doesn't know what C40 Cities are:

Thats why Just Stop Oil don’t attempt mass protests. hehe

Good point smile

I was going to add that those 9 million Londoners generally get on with life and don't care much for much, given the low numbers in all protests. Issues which appeal to protest movement voters will get a few more now and then, still no big deal.

I wonder how many people travel into London from other parts of the country for those protests about world events etc, as opposed to protests about local issues only affecting people who live or drive into London and can't afford to replace their car?

Perhaps that's why, in this case, direct action is the preferred option for the people it's affecting...

I’ve noticed several ULEZ vans now come with security guards and have seen a few videos of the vans having eggs thrown at them.
Presume that’s why they now come with security, wonder how long it will be before ulez gets dropped.

This is an example of the videos I’m talking about.

I’m surprised the guy filming not been clobbered yet by one of the drivers

I dunno what more can be said about ULEZ which hasn't been in the other threads.

1. people are pi55ed off about having this forced on them (there was no vote for the expansion)

2. It's likely a precursor to pay per mile road charging

3. the conservatives are quite rightly going heavy on abolition of the scheme for the next mayoral campaign

Caring about people in large numbers being killed? Fashionable?

I actually don't agree with ULEZ the same way I didn't agree with Covid restrictions. But some people simply put me off joining their cause because I don't want to be associated with them.

the Covid protests were easily as big as the ones we are seeing for the latest war the news want to separate people over.

It was hilarious to see the news reporting a 1000 or so (or whatever they said) for Covid anti lockdown/vaccine mandate stuff

Tsk Tsk

That wasn't what was posted. The post was clearly about effort put into demonstrating caring, not the caring. It said so - just rtfp!

In other words, as another PHer pointed out, virtue signalling - which isn't actually virtuous. Virtue signalling is indeed very fashionable with large numbers of right-ons signalling furiously and frequently, often on social media including on PH threads.

They want to turn the whole place into a hippy commune.

The problem is they're thick and don't understand that a city of 9m can't live like hippies camping in a Californian forest. It's London, it gets cold, heating engineers are required to service the heating systems, they have to drive vans on roads to keep your WFH office toasty while you flounce out a new article for the Guardian about how mung beans are a viable environmental alternative to concrete.

What a lovely little village Islington looks. And only about 5 people in it.
