What is happening at EVO magazine?

So I turned to the obligatory Porsche-for-no-reason article in this month's issue all ready to get indignant and was taken aback. It's well written but the real wonder was the photography. The picture on page 119 is the best I've seen in any car magazine. And you can't even see the car.

I agreed with the sentiment at the end of the article... not got it in front of me now, but was along the lines of "you don't need a fancy car, or an exotic location, you just need night-time, and that's free to everyone every day". Simon
I love driving at night

I thought exactly the same, absolutely superb Simon
There might even be a surge in magazine sales in the next few months as people are bored with no other events to occupy themselves.
Content wise I guess there will have to be more articles that are re-writing press releases of vehicle launches as there won't be big media driving events for a while and no chance of any photogenic road trips with travel bans in place.
The biggest risk will be staff getting sick all at once and delaying or cancelling an issue.

Brilliant 20 page article on roadgoing rally heroes in the latest edition.
Been a while since an Evo article as good as that one.
In fact there are a few good ones in this issue, something of a return to form recently means I'm keeping my subscription for a while longer!
Considering the last issue I read I was about to stop buying the magazine but I'm glad I didn't ask my local newsagent to stop putting aside the mag for me as that rally road heroes feature was absolutely fantastic! That's the Evo I know and love. Been a while since an Evo article as good as that one.

I certainly hope the surge is the case-the printed word is so much nicer to read than text on a screen or watching a random YouTube video (funnily enough the only car journos I really watch are Henry Catchpole & Chris Harris).Content wise I guess there will have to be more articles that are re-writing press releases of vehicle launches as there won't be big media driving events for a while and no chance of any photogenic road trips with travel bans in place.

For all their faults Evo are still the best car mag in my opinion, and produce some belting content-the “Porsche under the stars” in this month’s edition was particularly enjoyable.
I bought the latest EVO this week and particularly enjoyed Richard Meaden's column where he tracked his love of Imprezas back to the 1996 model. Being a similar age to Dicky and someone who remembers seeing his first UK impreza when hardly anyone knew what it was, I could really relate to his feelings towards the early classic scoobys, Its a reminder that the EVO writers really are very passionate car fans and this months was a good read.
Ironically I enjoyed it lots more than this months Modern Classics which I've praised consistently on this thread. Its still a good magazine, but for me is sadly going down the BMW/Porsche as much as possible road....Too many articles featuring german models which are out of my price range. The E46/E90 M3 for example, seems to be in nearly every issue. I think its a mistake as they hit a niche earlier on in the magazines history by featuring more affordable every day cars that just dont get written about any more.....

Funny you say that, I’ve noticed similar about MC...they seem to be moving away from the wide ranging, eclectic spread of cars which got them where they are. Shame, and I hope it doesn’t continue.Ironically I enjoyed it lots more than this months Modern Classics which I've praised consistently on this thread. Plenty of E46 M3's for sale from 6.5K
OK, the E92's are from 10K..
Is there though?OK, the E92's are from 10K..
I've just had a look on autotrader and you're in single digits for any e46 under £7.5k- and they're all convertibles.
Up it to £8k and you start to get coupes but that's still only 13 cars in total.
Narrow it down to what I suspect most of us would want, a manual coupe- 1 car.
Just subscribed to Motortrend on Demand to binge watch that.
Evo has been much better of late - Kudos to the Editor and team.
I'm a massive Harris fan and have been enjoying the collecting cars podcast.
Whilst i respect Jethro Bovingdon I do find him pretty annoying on screen somehow....

Whilst I feel the current issue wasn’t as good as usual, I have to disagree with this! The most recent issue has everything from an old Bentley T to an AutoBianchi.urquattroGus said:

Hmm..I've enjoyed his writing since his early days at Autocar and whilst he was, and is , a long way from being the best motoring journalist his enthusiasm makes up for a lot. But I found him insufferable on his podcasts - he is crass, absurdly full of himself and constantly forgets that it is his guest we want to listen to. Shame - because I enjoyed.the Harry Metcalfe and Richard Meaden episodes, especially about the genesis of the magazine . ..
