Meanwhile in America...
The old ('98-'02) Camaro is very common in Fairfax county near where I live and the un-marked silver Magnum (I've seen it in person- very sneaky!) is also owned by Fairfax county. I've also seen un-marked Camaros, billions of Chargers, all manner of SUVs, and an un-marked, white Mustang GT. The most clever I've seen is a stealthy, all black Chevy Silverado pickup truck. My county also took delivery of a Challenger SRT8 un-marked car, but I haven't seen that one yet. And that's just where I live! Out West, they used to have police package C5 Z06 Corvettes that GM used to build. I don't think GM makes a C6 police package.
All have 300bhp+ V8s and RWD or AWD.
You guys have a golf cart. That's priceless!
all handle like a bus with wheels made from lard and the essex police rs200 had 400bhp so there you go...Meanwhile in America...

Admittedly, the Tahoes, Expeditions, and pickups probably do, but they're more for all the rural areas around here. Go off-road better than Crown Vics!

<Yawn> And it wasn't even a real police car. And there was the grand total of ONE car. Which was a promo vehicle. Twenty five years ago.
The yanks are using that homegrown muscle NOW. Lots of it. Not just for the odd photoshoot. I think it's cool as fk.
Way cooler than a plethora of crappy astras and a plastic mitsubishi, at least.

what parallel universe are you posting from these cars dont even have independant suspension and a 'live' rear axel witch is the norm for a horse and cart a volvo or a bmeer would cream the chevy the srt8 and the camaro...

stop believing/misquoting Clarkson, Corvettes and Camaros do not have live axles, corvettes never did (neither do horse carts - they don't actually have driven wheels you know)but in the straits would be admitedly be a different matter...

I have a relative who is a Captain of a US Police Department. Of the days I have been on patrol with him, th etime spent driving around in a Ford Crown Vic was definitely the least exciting.Twenty five years ago.

To say they were jealous of the Jags, BMWs and Range Rovers I drive at work would be an understatement.

Perhaps you do, but my local ones don't. The point I was making is that calling police musclecars ste from the position of "we used to run a single 400bhp ford with better suspension so neeeerrrrr" is a bit silly when the equivalent home grown motor over here is a white astra with fluorescent stickers on it... grahamw48 said:

Ah, the brutal 'roll eyes' smiley. That settles the issue folks, this guy must know what he's talking about!Since this has turned into gratuitous posting of Police car pictures, I'll join in.
Last time I was in Japan there was an 800bhp Skyline Police car that was taken as part of the Japanese equivlent of "Section 59" (if you think it's bad over here you have no idea) and a 500bhp Stagea with a Belgian and German Shepherd in the back.
Rather than stuff bought with money made illegally going on Bumble Bee auctions it's good the Police are finally using criminals cars. I'll be council tax payers won't loose any sleep over a Police car being writen off if it was bough twith drug money.

The majority of US cars aren't muscle cars either. The whole department I was with had Ford Crown Vics. It was like a canal boat. Didn't turn, couldn't stop and couldn't go particularly fast either. (Although it did have a big shot gun next to me, which I thought was nice)The Crack Fox said:

I'd rather the government repealed our daft prohibition laws, that would save the police way more money.I bet they could seize some pretty nice stuff from white collar criminals though.
