the jag will be slower past 100; which would count, i suppose, in the M6's country of origin, as well as in the UK to a certain extent.
I don't doubt that you're right, but are there actually any figures for it?

Wouldn't bother me anyway, I rarely do more than 100mph in practice.

Looks stunning in blue, and with all that power under the bonnet I bet its a right monster nuts Interior looks nice and a luxurious place to sit in. Didn't know they sold 14,000 E63 M6s though, thats quite impressive.

fastestlaps.com have the jag slower to 100 (just) and slower to 200km/h by about 1 second (which it must make up all from 62-124 as they're the same to 62. and the M6 will be a bit quicker than the M5.

whether those facts are 100% true i don't know.

^^^^ wot he said. Nigh on 100k for a beemer? yikes Don't think so. Are the marketing boys behind this ex kirby cleaner salesmen?
Conversation on arriving home, 'hi honey, I'm home with my £98,000 car. It's a, err, ahem BMW rofl
Sounds like you care more about the badge on the front than the actual car which is a shame. This is AT LEAST as good as it's rivals from what I can see.

I bet you didn't like the Ford GT either because it came from the same company which made the Mondeo.

Besides BMW have been selling top spec 100k cars for some time now without problem.

yes

i bet they like the cygnet hehe

the price is NO surprise at all. M5 went from about 62k to 72k, 16% increase. M6 coupe was what, 80k? 80x1.16=basically 93k. how on earth does that surprise people?

Because at these levels, it is competing with many "I want" cars. Have not checked how competition prices have changed.

DB9 is 128+k as standard, couldn't quickly find xkr-s price but an "as tested" price was 97k so about the same as the M6, maserati granturismo is well over £100k with options.

all of which are well down on the stats front at least except the jag, i suppose. i think the M6 has the nicest interior of the lot (the DB9 is special, but the buttons are fiddly....whether they've changed this since the one i went in i don't know, that was a 2006 car i think)

doesn't seem over-priced compared to the competition at all by the looks of it.

agree about the "want" factor though, i love the styling of the maser, not a fan of the jag though (prefer the normal XKR) and also love the DB9 but that's also over 30% more expensive so arguably not really a rival, this is perhaps more a V8 vantage rival, as the V12 vantage costs more than this too, doesn't it?

Looks ever more like a '3 series stretch'. Ugly and hilariously overpriced.

£40k after three years.

I may be shot down for this but I actually think it`s a fair price rise. My M6 cabrio was JUST shy of £100k with options and that was a few years ago. Add in the much improved interior, gearbox, range, brakes, economy, torque.........
I really do think BMW have missed an opportunity though, I know it doesn`t need more power but it would be a coup if it had say an extra 20bhp over the M5.
I love the shape and interior and will probably have the vert in 3 years or so.

Point missed completely.
oh, and the Ford GT looks nothing like a mondeo yet the M6 at a quick glance resembles the 3 series coupe so poor comparison I reckon. 100k BMW's just 'aint for me but are for you. End of. hippy

PS; forgive me please but, isn't this a forum for 'pistonheads' with differing opinions? at least that's how PH started out a few years back.

Yes those are very good examples of lardy cars.
Yes but look at it! when you are buying a big sporting GT! I would much rather have a Maserati than the most expensive car made by a brand that specialises in company cars!

by your logic though no-one should buy an M5 because it looks like a 520d; completely ignoring the fact that underneath they are totally different, and offer totally different driving experiences.

isn't that sort of what the high end BMWs have always been about?

This is trying now, the point is I have an opinion like you obviously have and because mine differs from yours, you have a problem.
FACT; I don't think the BMW M6 is worth anywhere near £98,000
you probably do.
End of, I'm bored now coffee

I love BMW M Cars more than most esp having owned one and looking to own one again in the near future but I'm sorry - you would need to have serious mental health issues to spend 98k on an M6.

Just think, in 3 years it will probably only be worth 40k. Go spend that kind of money on a ferrari, gallardo, db9 etc and you will be buying something truly special and in the knowledge that it will only depreciate by 20-25k max after 3 years if that!
