Tell me what's so ridiculous about ?
Have a look at the worst drivers on the roads , you know tailgating tt, probably be a vectraman
Go to council estates , full of vauxhals
You can buy a 2006 vectra for 3k
They fall apart ,it's a fact
Nope, you're still being ridiculous. Have you ever owned more than one VX long enough to see with your own 2 eyes that they "fall apart" ?Have a look at the worst drivers on the roads , you know tailgating tt, probably be a vectraman

My daily snotter is 1998 Vectra. Its still on the original engine, gearbox, panels, etc etc. Its done 150,000 miles and I know it once ran out of oil and nearly set fire to itself because a prev owner (who I know) left the oil cap off. That was about 4 years ago. Guess what it hasnt fallen apart yet.
You can buy a 06 cheap as you can buy a Ford, because the residuals arent great as they discount from new heavily. Ive seen plenty of VX's with mega miles and still going strong. The new VXR's are a joy to drive and at the same time the diesel engined cars and comfy and do the job.
I really fail to see the hatred you have of the brand!
The reason you see them round council estates is they are cheap reliable transport. Maybe its just the other cars available for small money are just nasty and unreliable. Just becuase they live on a council estate doesnt mean they stupid, some are just happy to have a reliable family wagon to kart the kids about.
The last journey I took I was pushed along by BMW's, Audi's, VW's and Volvos. Not a VX in sight.

Rather have a bottom spec skoda than have a fully spec vx, bar the monaro
Have you driven a 1.2 Fabia 1? thats the bottom spec and its cheap, small and gutless. The engine is noisy and about as smooth as most road are. You dont get any extras either. I know I sold them for years. Your telling me you'd have that over a fully equiped Insignia? Madness....
I started a new job in October and as my company car is on such a long order time - have had hire cars - 4 in fact for various reasons.
11 plate Skoda Octavia Estate 1.2 FSI - hire co took it back as they get rid at 10k.
11 plate Insignia 1.8 SRI - I took it back because fuel economy for someone who does 25-30k a year didn't make it viable!
61 plate Insignia CDTI 130 - Went back because the milkman parked his milkfloat on the bonnet and it wasn't really driveable.
61 plate Toyota Avensis 2.0 TR 125 - Current car.
Of all those cars, the Insignia diesel has been my preferred.
I liked the Skoda, nippy and economical for a 1.2.
I hated the Insignia petrol.
Avensis is ok - looks quite dull though, in my opinion, and not quick or very well kitted.
But everyone who went in or saw the Insignia diesel liked it. Was spacious, very comfortable, economical, quick, handled ok. Was an SRI so fairly large wheels. I'd have one again any day but I am aware of their terrible JD Power survey performance - but if work are paying - then i'd consider.
Had an 05 plate Astra for a while at a previous employer. That was ok too.

Ok , have a look at some of the "what car" threads and show me anyone that recommended a vauxhal
99% of people on ph are after something for the b roads, If people started the thread.... i need a cheap reliable run around. Then more vauxhalls would be mentioned, how many people in this thread already say there snotter/run around is a vauxhall. You are still an uneducated muppet btw

Sure you did, your argument with vauxhall is based on nothing but ignorance and stupidity... another true story
Ok , have a look at some of the "what car" threads and show me anyone that recommended a vauxhal I have always had a soft spot for Vauxhalls.
Owned a Senetar and a Calibra and both were good.
Just bought my daughter a Corsa for Xmas and she loves it.
I had an Insignia as a rental in the US last year where it was called a Royale or somethink and its been one of the very few cars that strangers have actually come over and asked me what it was and how well it looked. It was a pleasure to drive as well.
I know in Germany, many speak bad of Opel which is not realy normal for the Germans to trash their own products. Maybe its because they know half the range are not made in Germany.

Sorry to single you out, but again with the hatred? Its really odd to have such hate for a brand of car, and wish them to disapear. I now deal with Cars all day, the new Focus is slow, boring and if I see another EM light on due to O2 sensor failure I will cry. Does that make all fords crap? nope nor do I hate them. Most brands have boring cars to fit an area where they want to sell. We have new Focus sat next to the equivilant Hyundia sat next to the Astra and rarely theres a Golf to put there too.
When having them all together I would honestly say none are bad. All of them boring, strangled by emmissions and heavy with saftey features. But if you were there comparing them all without predudice I doubt you could really hate the Astra anymore than the other souless euro boxes sat next to them.

You are still an uneducated muppet btw
Errr.... Besides the fact you build substandard cars is there anything else that is making you blind to reality ? You are still an uneducated muppet btw
Thousands of people got burnt after buying a vauxhall, that's why your closing up shop, not because of me saying xx is rubbish

The factory which the astra is built is probably one of the most up to date factories in europe, I personally do NOT build the cars, Thousands of people being burt you say.. you know them all yes? you have personally been burnt by a vauxhall? and no other badges have defective cars/parts... are we closing up shop at all? nobody knows and further more if they do shut, it is not due to quality/reliability, its down to what happening else were in the world and with the economy.Thousands of people got burnt after buying a vauxhall, that's why your closing up shop, not because of me saying xx is rubbish
Alow me to upgrade you from muppet to complete f4cktard
When my wife was pregnant with our second child I knew i could no longer struggle on with two babies and and BMW 335 coupe. I wanted a comfy estate/large hatchback but not FWD (been driving rwd/4x4 for years)and not an SUV as a daily driver. Had an A6 avant quattro in the past so looked at those as well as BMW 335 touring (the obvious choice). Needed to have new/nearly new as i wanted to hang onto the car for a while and i do between 20-30k miles/annum. Didnt want to spend too much as I had sunk my savings into a new business 6 months previous. Couldnt find any used under 35k and specced new +£45k. Didnt have that sorta cash to hand. One of my employees suggested the insignia (her dad had one). Not being a badge snob or one of these people whose self esteem is built upon a car badge I went and had a look/drive of one. Quite impressed, comfy, quick enough day to day, roomy and a high level of kit (which I like) and could handle or pothole strewn roads without any drama, heck it even had a spare tyre. FWD was an issue but they offered me a 4wd model with rear bias at the press of a button. All in 25k (fully loaded) with a long warranty -an absolute no brainer. 5 months 8500 miles later cant pick any fault with it. When it blows up (which maybe soon according to some posters) I might just treat myself to a VXR
If they ever 'go under' or 'do a Rover' then it would be a crying shame, because in the wide scope of things they are far from bottom-of-the-barrel cars.
I'm in no position to own 'brand new' cars but my dad has a car through the motability scheme. The previous car was an Astra CDTi 150 SRi SP (long name eh?!) and it was nothing short of fantastic. Build quality issues? None. Mechanical problems? One. EGR valve went and 'did a Rover' and keeled over after 15k miles.
The new steed is a bigger and softer-riding Insignia CDTi 160 - it's a fantastic car (and surprisingly brisk for something which feels every bit of its' near 2-ton mass) and to date we have not had a problem with it at all, build quality is fantastic - whilst definitely not the same as that of an Audi it also cost no-where near as much.
Renault have blamed 'cheap' car manufacturers (likes of Hyundai and Kia) for removing so many cars from their UK dealerships symultaneously just recently. The really cheap cars are unfortunately killing off most of these 'middle ground' manufacturers, and that's sad. I hate cheap cars, whether their crap or not...

Jesus... Some of these Vauxhall owner's can be a little precious can't they?
I wonder if its to do with the council estates they all live in?
No, maybe its just that someone slating something without good reason gets up certain peoples noses?I wonder if its to do with the council estates they all live in?
Just like some one assuming (even in jest) that every VX owner lives in a council estate.
You could try it out for yourself, just insert your own favourite car brand where ever you see the word Vauxhall and see how you feel?
Of course that will only work if you are passionate about a brand and not just a souless eurobox fan whose only real involvement with cars is when they insert the fuel.
