Wheres the fking handbrake? First thing I now look for in the interior of a car is an old frashioned handbrake.
After having a to use a car with an electronic handbrake for a day ...... there aint nooooo way I'm buying a car ever, without a good old fasioned handbrake. I don't give a flying fk how trick it is, if it ain't got one, I don't want one.
Honestly, I don't get the vitriol for e-handbrakes. Yes I'd prefer a normal one but if you're not used to it in about 1hr of driving you are mentally deficient. Hammering along your favourite road, crackle from the exhaust at 9000rpm..."oh but wait, it's ruined because I've got a button instead of a lever for a handbrake." I want to be able to do handbrake turns and if my regular brakes fail I want to not spend 3 seconds trying to find the tiny pedal or wherever the button is located. Unreasonable?
And when you take your eyes and attention off the action to locate the tiny finger lever you'll find that nothing happens anyway. The nanny/fuzzy/convoluted logic will tell you to FO... Hence why it is a tiny finger lever. The new GT3 is driven by disobedient proxy, not you.
That looks brilliant ,and will be utterly amazing to drive .Even as a hardened 'manual' guy ,that has me licking my lips in anticipation.
Ref the manual debate, the game has moved on ,the current dual clutch gearboxes are excellent and whilst you do lose that interaction ,there are some major positives, the speed ,the ability to keep both hands on the wheels etc
I've never come away from driving a lambo,Ferrari or gtr with similar boxes and felt wow that wasnt involving because it doesn't have a Manual gearbox,in fact given the performance I appreciated the ability to keep both hands on the wheel and 100% focus on the road.

No manual box therefore its not a real drivers car. Seriously?
The most involving cars you can drive are GT3 Race cars and guess what, no foot operated clutch between gear shifts. The move to PDK brings on benefits to the overall performance of the car.
Grow up and get with the times. I think 4 wheel steer is the boldest aspect of this car not the PDK.

I'll admit, I've never tried, but given the semi slick rear tyres, the weight over the rear and the tiny handbrake calliper I'd be surprised if this was even possible with a "normal" handbrake.

Am I right in saying it uses a similar system to Ducati's Desmotronic valves? On another note, very good EVO chat:

Good:
9000rpm flat 6
468bhp
327 bhp/ton
RS models should be amazing
only 30kg heavier than 997 GT3
Bad:
electric steering
electric handbrake
no manual option
four wheel steering
acronyms are getting out of control
60kg of extra stuff in there compared to 997 (rws costs 15kg on its own)
heavier than Carrera S
funny extra red lights at the back (for US market only perhaps?)
£100k basic (£120k on the road will be far too easy)
indifferent:
styling - no more or no less than everyone was expecting. Hard to see any improvement over 997 GT3 in this regard.
Regarding the 4 wheel steering I know it can be made to work well as it did on my Nissan R34 GTR but I also know what happens when it goes wrong. Not good. Lotus Carlton version was very effective but cornered like a crab on a circuit, I hope for everyone's sake this isn't the case here!
But one thing's for sure the days of the GT3 being porsche's purest sports car are long gone. If they do a manual Cayman R surely that will be the purists choice?

The question is why are they not offering a simpler version?
Good question - this seems to be crammed with technology, seems hugely competent, looks aggressive, will there be the same love for it like the previous simpler models. Porsche's GTR?It would be good to find out if this car is targeted at a previous GT3 owner or an Aston/GTR/Etc owner?
This car will be very successful.

They have a manual, a hydraulic rack and delete the 4WS...why not offer this version? harder to justify the price? It would be good to find out if this car is targeted at a previous GT3 owner or an Aston/GTR/Etc owner?
