Selling out for sales, they need to. They're a business after all. How many RS Meganes did they sell last year? How many Clio 200s do you see on the road?

You never know, if they can shift a load of these then maybe they can develop something a little more special...

Rumour has it there's a 3dr coming in a coupe sort of form, just not badged 'Clio' anyway. Surely a RS one of those might be more 'PH' wink
This is only a modified RS version of the new Clio, right? Missed opportunities. No Brembo brakes, no Recaros, no manual option (the 6 speed manual is already on the same engine in the Nissan Juke), no base spec cheap/lighter Cup etc.

They could have developed the RS brand to pull in more sales and appeal to those buyers that may want the all those latest fancy toys (artificial piped engine noise...) whilst also not alienating the previous customer base. They should have extended the appeal, not reduce it or shift it.

They are now seriously in danger of shooting themselves in the foot due to money being wasted on the non core electric business. Wasted opportunity.
Agree about the electric stuff. And the lack of Brembos, Recaros, Manual, 3 dr etc. will definitely put off the traditional RS Clio buyer. Most of them on the forums were annoyed with the turbo, but that was one thing I think they accepted would have to be changed.

I like it. However, I won't be buying one as my fun car like previous RS's I've owned, but as a quick little family car for the Mrs it could work.

Also, lets hope as in previous generations of the RS Clio, the first one isn't the best version and they always bring out better offerings later. I've seen somewhere that Recaros will be offered in the not so distant future. Lets see

Is the Pug coming back to form?

This new 208 Gti looks so much better than the poorly resolved, bug-eyed 5 door Clio 200T:

Personally i think 208's look terrible. The font looks squashed, and there is something very wrong with the rear 3/4's, the proportions of the whole car don't work in my eyes.

My sentiments exactly.

It's hard to genuinely accept someone's opinion like that when they're driving round in a diesel Civic...
I drive round in a diesel Civic, what's your point? Am I not allowed an opinion either?

fk me, is it value judgement day on PH? Since when was the amount of driving you do a prerequisite for being a PHer? Still, I ran a modified Chimaera 450 for over 2 years as an only car for 32,500 miles in all weathers - does that meet your own "worthy of PH" criteria?

Yes, Monday to Friday all I do is drive to the station and back. Sadly, that's how I pay the bills. Work is 120 miles away and the train is the best method of getting there.

If you'd actually bothered to read what you've quoted, I clearly said I haven't bought a new car for a decade. Strangely i don't idly sit looking at the price of vehicles, it's not my idea of a good time, but each to their own.

fk me, PH used to be about being a petrol head. One thread, with an opinion expressing surprise and its value judgement central.
If you'd actually bothered to read what I wrote, I said for someone who has posted 38000 times, obviously spends time on PH, I don't know how you fail to notice the general price of cars.
Of course you work, car enthusiast work... Some will have daily drives the double as family ferry, shopping trolly, station car or take them to their place of work but they will still be properly driven when the time comes... The long way home, weekend blasts whatever, all in the same car...

I'm interested in what the reviewer says about how it drives, how it handles, how it feels - I have no interest in the price of cars, hence I am genuinely surprised that in the decade since I last bought a new car, the price has virtually doubled.

Lighten up fella, you did say you only did a 10 mile station journey, and that's all the mileage any car you have would do... I said you must be having a laugh, implying in reality, has someone posting PHs, you probably do more driving than stated... Giving YOU the benefit of the doubt.

Anyway... You're genuinely stumped at the price of new cars... Fair enough. We move on.

I'd have the new Fiesta ST or 208 GTI over this, then again I'd still rather have my Abarth 500 Esseesse or a Clio 200 over all three. I remember pricing a Clio 200 to my spec and it was only £17.8k including the Recaros. Chose the Abarth over it as it cost less over 3 years, was more exclusive and better for day to day use. Clio 200 is a future classic, everytime I see one I wish I bought one. New Clio is hideous, like a mini MPV gone wrong

It does look a bit like it's gurning, but I still like it. Then again, I like the A110-50 and most other people seem to hate it.

Possibly because people want to know what the different reviews are saying about it.

Saving cost by sharing parts from the truck range.

That red Clio looks good, but new 208 Gti three wheelies nicely and seems to have more front end bite than DS3 racing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdc1Ho32pg0

If they get damping right with that revy engine from RCZ it could represent serious challenge to Clio.

What an awful car.

Ford are doing something very wrong if the Fiesta doesn't hugely outsell this monstrosity. Waiting in earnest for the road test, but I just can't see how an automatic is going to make a good hot hatch.

Are Renault up sh** creek with two flappy paddles? biggrin
I know, right?

I just can't see how an flappy paddled car can make a good F1 car either.

Retard.

Is an F1 car a hot hatch?

I suggest you try driving a hot hatch Mr Retard. (is that your surname?)

How can it have doubled when it has actually gone down in real terms ?

And that's not even taking account where prices should be if manufacturers had kept up with £/€ which has gone massively against us over the past five years, by the tune of 20%.
