My god, we like being holier than thou don't we? She's not used to the car, not that she couldn't handle it. But take it whatever way you want...

But the car gained speed very quickly and she struggled to control it like I would. Then she refused to drive it ..
You're the one saying that The Little Woman "struggled to control it like I would", as though it was some rampaging beast. What comes across from you posts is that you believe the hoi poloi couldn't possibly manage the kind of car you can and shouldn't be allowed to try. Fine for you to though of course, because you're far more skillful and clever.
My partner has had some lamentable cars in performance terms, naturally aspirated diesel Citreons and so forth. A couple of years ago she got a turbo diesel Golf, 105 rampaging horsepowers. She couldn't believe how powerful it was and how it would go up steepish hills at 60mph without changing down.
Then I bought a 231hp Merc SLK Auto. She's on the insurance, copes with it no problem whatsoever, just drives it at the same speed as her Golf, which is the same speed she did in her Citreon thing.
Then again, I don't sit there tutting at every little thing till she refuses to drive it. Not saying you do of course, but you're the one with a missus that drove your car once and then refused to drive it again...
Your Lexus is just a car, not a fighter jet or a spaceship. One pedal for go, one for stop and a twirly thing to change direction. I totally accept that few people could drive it to the limit. I couldn't (could you?).
But I think you'll find that most of us could get in and drive it perfectly happily and safely. And I suspect your wife could too...

Precisely! Oh. My. God!
I don't really know my Lexi [/Alan Partridge]
I've been labouring under the misapprehension that it was one of these that Shadow's missus couldn't possibly cope with darling.
But it's not. It's one of these..!
Honestly mate, chuck her the keys and go and let her have a trundle about on her own, I think she'll manage...

I think it will end when the time gets so fast the driver of the car will actually be killed due to the g force...
Well, currently road cars can sustain 1.17G in the case of the Veyron, Top Fuel Dragsters can manage 4, Rocket Dragsters perhaps 6 but the human body, as proven by Colonel John Stapp can withstand, under certain circumstances 45 G so we have some way to go, surprisingly BMW's best diesel efforts fall some way short, even when mapped.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Stapp

My mum drove my S Type R 2 months ago (20hp less than IS-F). Within 10 minutes we had done WOT acceleration from 30mph to 0.9 leptons. Up til that day the most powerful car she had driven was a 200hp 2.5 ton Landcruiser.
Powerful cars are argueably easier to drive slower than less powerful cars. Problems arrive when you put them on some pedestool.
"Be careful, its really powerful and if you arent 100% attentive itll throw you off the road in a massive ball of FIRE!"

I think the new 335d x drive may be the answerhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Stapp
When mapped this should be capable of breaching the sound barrier whilst averaging 1000mpg...

I reckon most on here could take a Veyron and in a few minutes have the confidence to give it full death for a few seconds, similar performance to a sportsbike but you cant fall off the back, it wont try to spit you off, it will just acclerate very very hard, will be a shock at first but would soon aclimatise.
I think the "Little Woman" thing doesnt apply nowadays, and to be honest I dont think it ever really did, if I had something really lairy I would just tell my wife to watch it, she isnt daft, I pointed out that the 944 is rear wheel drive and has no electronics and to watch it if driving in the wet as it can get a bit twitchy, she would probably have less issues than me as she doesnt know what a Dab of Oppo is and has no desire to provoke it but knows if back comes round to steer into it, generally they dont bite off more than they can chew. It isnt anythign different than I would say to anyone else, male or female if driving a moderately powerful rwd car with no driver aids.

She's joined me on track days as main driver, driven cars way more powerful than that Lexus. The issue is transitional, swapping over from a daily Fiat 500 the brakes are way sharper the car is much more powerful. When she get's used to a car, she could drive it on the limit without a bat of an eyelid which most people as you said can't..
She said and I quote, getting back into my car after the Lexus she found it harder to stop and couldn't overtake anyone. She struggles with transition, which is fine so she decided not to drive it.. I'd been driving it day in day out for a month at that point.
I agree it takes me a couple of days if not a week to truly get used to a car and exactly what it's capable of. Overall she is a better driver than me, but I get used to cars quicker..
I don't see how I'm calling her the little lady that can't!.. I hate it when people make st up like that without asking or knowing any background.
