The kind of trolls who really DO own lots of exotic cars, but act like tools anyway, are the ones we should really feel sorry for.

Now PH is full of people with lots of fast car experience. I like the classic car scene as well, which has people in it with more money than even APOLO can dream of. What PH has in common with some of these people in the classic scene (that I am fortunate enough to class as friends), is that they are people with some class. I've met people with $30m tied up in cars who have childish enthusiasm and love to share experiences. They don't play games, they don't score points, they have no desire to impress anyone. They have no ego.

And then there are supercar owners like APOLO. Who have lots of ego. They only want the cars because it gives them "bragging rights". It is all about them. Its not about the cars. The cars are merely there to make them the centre of attention.

They don't know how uncool they are. So we can pity them. We can do better. So just let them brag along and play with themselves. There are plenty of genuine owners of P1 and 918 here, as well as F40's, F50, Enzo's, Veyrons, F1's, anything you care to name, who can talk about their cars with grace and eloquence. APOLO ain't one of them. So let him get on with playing with himself while the rest of us have fun with the real PH'ers.
30mil us......nah I have a lot more.....

Yep. Weapons grade troll. I pointed out your quick back pedalling when presented with real data, only for you to point out my (perceived lack of driving credentials) by having a dig at my peasant's pork. Just the sort of thing a troll would do (before quickly editing it out!).

Well done, you big rich-man-on-the-internet-who-owns-these-cars, you.

Another thing trolls fail to do is consider that they may be wrong, if all who've driven these cars contradict your perception of P1's braking performance, then maybe its just you?

What a weapon.

And I'm not talking about the 918.

I had reserved judgement until now but this APOLO guy really is an idiot, perhaps a wealthy one, who knows on the internet, but an idiot nonetheless.

Grow up.

It's true then; you can't buy class.

But keep on trying.

I remember people making all the same complaints about the Carerra GT compared with the Enzo, Zonda etc - put it next to a Gonzo now and the Porsche still looks fresh and elegant while the Ferrari looks quite dated.
You mad bro?!

Sigh, this topic seems to have devolved from an interesting talk about a fantastic new hypercar to the usual crap. Not sure what this chap has done to incur the wrath of the PH pack apart from using txt speech (a crime I know but hardly one which deserves this kind of abuse smile). Could I suggest that those who want to indulge in "internet fights" take it to another thread and we get back to talking about cars?

Now when exactly will Chris Harris be taking one of these for a proper spin so that we can all gawp at the video?

I think, more than the trollish comments or txt speak, its the rabid-Porsche-defender-fanboy persona that's a little unfortunate.

Anyway, on topic, Porsche are up to their usual tricks with this update. Porsche will refine their product till it catches up with the competitors and gains some form of 'respect' among its peers (not that I think it needs it), after all they've got to sell double the number compared to their competitors and perceived inferiority especially with the 'ring time ain't sitting well with prospective customers (especially of APOLO1's type! You know the type that loses sleep over the fact that a GTR could beat a 911 Turbo wink).

Kudos to Porsche for actually having the balls to set a 'ring time (and not messing about like some competitors I could mention).

Big deal, who cares.

I used to love supercars.
Sadly, they have become increasingly irrelevant dinosaurs and so I'm reverting to older cars.

I recently sold my 997 GT3 CS for a 1974 911 RS 3.0 replica (980 Kg, 240BHP).
I'm happy about the switch.
Encouraged down this path, I have also just bought a 1968 Fiat Dino Spider 2.0L (160BHP, 1100Kg, 8000rpm!).

You need the convenience of a modern car too of course (I have an E92 M3) but for sunny-day blasts these old cars are much more engaging and satisfying drivers cars.

Fun matters.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. - This sort of car should make us car enthusiasts drool and daydream…but to be honest, I just feel indifferent to most modern supercars (918, LaFerrari & P1 included), actually…most new "performance" cars in fact.

This car…I really couldn't care if it does 0-100 in 5, 6 or 7 seconds. I also couldn't care for horsepower wars, Nurburgring lap times or other "headline" figures. Sadly, I predict that outside of their manufacturer's hands, the only place any of the latest generation of "hypercars" will regularly get anywhere near their limits is on a PlayStation or XBox. - They'll be no faster than a black cab stuck in traffic on Oxford Street or badly parked outside Harrod's.

Aside from posing, what would you actually use one of these for? From what I can gather, it'll probably be like riding a racehorse on a public road (what are the dimensions?) in that you won't be able to use 1/10th of it's performance without ending-up in prison or worse...and if that is the case it'll ultimately frustrate. Therefore, if you're not kidding yourself, you'll probably find that on the road you'll get more enjoyment out of wringing every last rev out of a base-model Boxster.

Overall, I think the best thing car manufacturers could do for enthusiasts is to line-up and shoot all the marketing tossers, employ engineers that care about driving, then hand people like Mr. Harris and the Evo staff the keys to the resulting product for them to tell us what it's like. "Teaser" images or deliberately "leaked" information should result in those responsible being hunted down and VBRJ'd. shoot

But we know that'll never happen. - I'll get my coat. getmecoat

everyone has been disagreeing and whining about Apollo's comments re the brakes but to be fair a couple of recent reviews have stated they aren't pleasant to use.
