Turning around in someone else's driveway
Discussion
Whether I use a pavement crossover to help with performing a 180, sometimes hinges on the road type, and width, and whether or not other cars have turned up, who want to get by.
If the road is empty I use as a multi point between the kerbs, remembering the `usable' road width is further reduced by the need to avoid grounding the splitter / front / rear valences on the kerbs.
Often the best option is to carry on, and drive around the next corner/s to get back to where you need to be, But if it is a dead end road, a several point turn will be needed
(probably by `nearly' all / non residents using that piece of road), unless they want to reverse out, which can be risky.
On an a narrow road, a three point turn which uses the extra space provided by pavement crossovers, can be a better option, than a 5 or more point turn `between' the curbs when there are other motorists are waiting to get by.

Doesnt the highway code state you shouldn't reverse on to a main road? Anyway to address the OP, I wouldn't personally use someones driveway to turn round in, but I might use the drop kerb. Im not sure what the exact scenario is (do they drive entirely on to your property?), and im sure its very irritating, but Id be finding other things to worry about in life. If it bothers too much then a chain/gate is definitely the way forward.
This afternoon I saw someone using a neighbours drive to turn round, this wasn't someone using the dropped kerb for a bit extra room but driving completely onto the drive as if to park and then reversing off and driving away.
My reaction is bloody cheeky bd especially as the cul-de-sac has a turning area 20 yards up the road.
