The thing is, of course the said car will be judged purely on the looks, and finish.
No one is disputing it didn't take a lot of time, effort and funds.
Hope it sells.

Firstly, well done for engineering it from the components you have done. Many of us, me included, wouldn't be able to do it so fair play to you. However, it's a very poorly executed imitation and the bodywork is all over the place. This not trolling, it's a review on the photographs you've put up on ebay. Unfortunately if you put it up on a public auction, point to publicly available media that's covered you and it, you have to expect that not all comments will be as enthusiastic as you were when putting it together over what must have been many months.

Congrats and I wish you luck with it.

Is it supposed to be a Zonda replica ?. If so its a poor one and in general the workmanship is poor.

its not a copy, some of the comments are fair, I have admitted myself i don't like parts of the car, front and side air intakes, there is a reason for this which is well documented on the build threads.

I took my GT4 to a car show and 2 anoraks stood by the side in their best Clarkson voice "ooooh, its not a real Ferrari" and dissed my car for ages, then went back to their Cortina 1300 Gl. I know that cars are emotive and each to their own etc etc. but I don't understand the either inverted snobbery or downright personal attacks I have been getting!

So it's styled to look like a Zonda (ish) and you've called it a Zonda I. But it's not a Zonda replica? What is it then? A blatant copyright naming infringement?

Yawn,

The Zonda is a dry wind (often carrying dust) which comes from the polar maritime air, warmed by descent from the crest, which is approximately 6,000 m (20,000 ft) above sea level. It may exceed a velocity of 40 km/h (25 mph).

The trouble is Nick that YOU and only YOU have put this out here on the good old internet, of course it will receive criticism, you can not honestly think what you have done has been done to a decent standard ?

I looked through all your photo bucket pics before I commented on the build, I honestly can not see one part of the car that has been done to a decent standard.

Welding, wiring, trim, bodywork, all done badly, not just my opinion lots of others agree also.

Time for a reality check bud, the cars a write off before its even got going.

Good luck with the sale.

Partly based on an Ultima, if I read earlier in the thread correctly, I also remember something about the Ultima is a bit ugly to your tastes which I sort of agree with, but would it have been easier and ultimately more profitable building an Ultima with the Audi engine? On the other hand I can see you wanted to sort of build your own thing but a replica is a halfway house hence the criticism I suppose.

I don't think anyone has been making what you'd consider personal attacks. Of course there is Micky taking, this is a predominantly male forum and we can all be childish etc. I'm sure you are a top bloke and clearly passionate about cars as much as anyone else. I'm also sure many of us are envious that you have the time to indulge a desire.

And there is no snobbery you simply have to face the naked truth that the end result of the project in physical form is truly, truly terrible. And when I say terrible, I genuinely mean terrible, as in, terrible. And it would be farcical to try and suggest anything other than that.

It's real value lies in the fact that I'm sure you've have great fun building it and if you have kids I'm sure they've really had fun but the simple fact that even the builder doesn't consider it to be a 'keeper' does give the game away that you are also aware that the end product is 'not an overwhelming success' so I don't see why the need to get on your high horse over the Micky taking.

I only made the car as something to do with the kids, I bought a V12 jag engine, and thought i would make a coffee table, it turned out the V12 was rare, so I made a car out of it.

Just out of curiosity. What's the fastest you have been in that car?

I have an image of someone buying that car then going to a VMax event and ending up with a scaffolding pole through their chest or a windscreen wiper lodged in their neck.
