The chassis weighs 90kg. Yet the whole car weighs 1313kg. What went wrong there then? Esprit V8 is 1220kg. F1 target weight was 1000kg, and they only just missed it. And that's with a sodding great big V12 up its bum.
It's also not that rigid.Edited by robinessex on Wednesday 1st April 20:20

Seriously tho - I don't see a McLaren all that often and when I do I have NO fkING IDEA what it was
You should look at a few more pictures then The 650 and the 12C look different to each other, particularly at the front. The P1 is substantially different to either, although there is a front end resemblance to the 650. Seriously, how difficult is it to distinguish between these three:andyps said:

Yep, easy peasy. Vantage, DB9 and One-77.981C said:

Anyone know who is the Marketing training and qualifications provider and all round internet brand defender for McLaren?
If I had to take a guess.......

I just don't get all the negativity on a UK motoring forum for a company based in Britain who are producing cars which by all accounts are pretty amazing to drive, are selling to targets and producing profits. Shouldn't we be celebrating that?

In the 570S EVO video Henry Catchpole hints at a 540C coming in the near future. Maybe this will be smaller than the 650S, must admit I'm surprised this thing is bigger!
There's already a McLaren 625C for the Asian market. It has softer suspension to suit regional tastes and a detuned (slightly) engine to reduce the tax burden of the car. In the video, the 540C is mentioned which will be similar, and probably not available in the UK.

Or this one?
Or this one?
650s, 12C, 650 Le Mans, 12C HS - Which is my favourite.
Clearly I'm being obtuse. But I followed a Orange Spyder along a while back and even as a fan of them. I had no idea what iteration it was. Also engine deosn;t half sound "busy" making all sorts of "noises" even when driving normally.

With you on the drving. Never even sat in one, but they do get good reviews in the main. "selling to target" appears to be iffy. How many Macs have you seen on the road? Even in London they are rare. And yet they are selling thousands? There's not exactly loads on their own pre-owned website either. And I would imagine a fair chunk of owners would trade in every couple years. Was alleged on another thread there's a lot of pre-reging going on. How true that is I have no idea.
Producing profits is also unclear. There's an awful lot of things to pay for since they decided to go more volume (compared to SLR and F1) Staff, new factory, tooling, constant development. Be amazed if that's already cleared.
Celebrating is also fine. But not if you fall into the trap several people on here do. (1 or 2 particularly stupidly) Of getting all xenophobic and assuming that the Italians or Germans are small fry compared to McLaren. I expect it from Ron Dennis. That's his bias. But I would expect a little more balance outside of Woking. 458 and GT2/3 are great cars. Same as 918 and LaFerrari.

talk to the real supercar owners in here, not just the fanboys. TT993, APOLO1 etc. They all say the P1 feels like a parts bin car and truly lament the owners who are stuck with one, LaFerrari and 918 are so far ahead on quality and fit`n`finish its not even funny.
Nice first try though.

Got a link to any of that? Never heard anything other than praise for the p1 on here or elsewhere.Nice first try though.
Yes some prefer the 918 but I've never seen anybody slag the p1

Lol, had a good look round one yesterday, when you get up close looks like some one raided the parts bin.
You know a few of Max' buddies also have P1's and more or less given up driving them, bits really do fall off them all the time, electronics, batts and drivetrain apparently are all milk chocolate, sad really.

Saying that, on a purely ascetic level. The inside of P1 isn't exactly on a Par with a SLS Merc even for "luxury" but then maybe that's not really a fair comparison?
