Headline grabbing power and a detailed discussion on PS, HP, CV and exactly how much ponies it has.

And not a word about weight. If you ask Ferrari they state '1525kg' (dry, all lightweight options). Same as the F12. When Sport Auto measured a fuelled F12 the scales said 1715kg iirc. Motor Trend weighed 1816kg curb weight. That is compared to most cars coming by here measured with the eu definition, 1790-1891kg. Mind, acceleration won't be be lacking, but it ain't anywhere lightweight. As if anybody cares, hp figures are so much more sexy. But personally I do think that a smaller engine and lower kerb weight (same bhp/weight) would be even better... bit like a McLaren 675 or its successor? But this one is NA V12 that revs to the sky, that's the whole point I suppose. And more comfortable. Probably a great great car if you live in Germany and get to use that engine.

Without the mid engined weight distribution/traction advantage, I think 800bhp without 4 wheel drive is bloody mad.
Actually it is mid engine (behind front axle) and trans axle gearbox with more weight on the rear (53%), and as mentioned above, quite a lot of it probably if it's anything like the F12 wink but true, it's the main reason for it being such a hooligan tyre smoker compared to a mid engine behind the cabin layout.

Meh, I find the horsepower wars a bit tiresome now. There's a point where more power and speed is getting dangerous and soon we'll see a reversion to lighter, 'slower', more engaging cars from more manufacturers than just Mazda and Lotus.
It's going to be Group B all over again.

I'am not a Ferrari fan but all due credit to them for building this normally aspirated monster, plus it's bloody lovely.

Not as elegant as the F12 but much more aggressive looking than the TDF. Another great looking car from Ferrari. That V12 is no slouch either. Impressive.

Cleaning muck out from under that rear lip will be tirsome though.

It's not my sort of car.

As a couple of people have posted above, and I posted on the unoffical other thread - this really is a bit too much in a road car. I mean the numbers are wow, but is it any good on the road at speeds up to, say, about 70mph?

I don't do trackdays anymore, so I'll keep hankeing after and buying Lotus, and Caterham, and the lesser Porsches, and old classic sportscars.

So do Ferrari's make the claimed power figures? Are they ever lacking?

Awesome... I hope a couple escape the hands of investors and make it to the road instead of a lock up.

I now have my perfect lottery 2 car garage in mind, a Hellcat Charger for daily duties and putting a bike carrier on the roof for my mountain bike, and this new 812 for my weekend toy.

It's not an "investors" car - it's a production V12 Ferrari as were the 550, 575, 599 etc ...

Still no, Ferrari alloys have never looked right. I think its because the designs of the metal spokes always look too thin.

I have to say, I wasn't keen on the first official images of the car from Ferrari but having seen these, it looks a lot more special and impressive than I first thought. Very nice!

this looks fantastic. Love the wheels

I think they have improved the front end look after the ugly 599 and F12.

the TDF was better already, and this is just right.

^^^ To my eyes, the 355GTB is the last truly good looking Ferrari.
