Wow. Looks terrific. The colour looks superb, I'm glad I went for the Tango in the end as I had considered Nardo Grey.
Did they give you any specific running in instructions?

Yeh you are going to love it when you see it in the flesh. Did they give you any specific running in instructions?
T
They didn't give me any running in instructions but I just had a look in the book right now and it says first 1000km keep it under 6000rpm, use partial throttle only after 2500km you can go to 8250rpm.

I drove the old R8 manual and auto at an RS day 3 years ago. The Manual was such a dog, anyone that took it out (for 40 mins slots), brought it back within 10 minutes.Looked nice, open gate, but just ruined the drive of an otherwise nice car, reminded me of my mother 1970's Beetle gearbox, only worse. Jumping into the Auto was like fast-forwarding 20 years.
Could have been a dog, but at an Audi RS day, I doubt it.
The R8 is pretty tail happy for an Audi, so no burning platform for a RWD version.
Tarka - what detailing are you having done on the car?
My new R8 is sat at the dealership awaiting collection in March and I can't decide which paint treatment to go for. I'm not looking for ppf, but probably one of the Gtechniq offerings - I want the car to be as shiny as possible with that wet-look finish.
PS. your new car looks great btw!

I had Gtechniq on my QV. Impressed and made washing a damned sight easier. My new R8 is sat at the dealership awaiting collection in March and I can't decide which paint treatment to go for. It's Gtechniq, though they hadn't started application when i took the pic. I'm using Lance at Motorsplash (Gloucertershire: but mobile) who my dealer strongly recommended. I'm not going for PPF but Cheltenham Audi were happy to organise if required and charge at cost! BTW I think Lance at MotorSplash is excellent! Obsessive attention to detail and a lovely chap! He's not using Gtechniq on the screen though as apparentlty it can lead to juddery wipers. I'm not sure what he's using instead, but I'll find out.My new R8 is sat at the dealership awaiting collection in March and I can't decide which paint treatment to go for. On the subject of dealers: I'm also hugely impressed by mine (Cheltenham Audi- part of Blade Group). They have been outstanding throughout; they seem genuinely as excited about the car as me and that is despite them shipping lots of RS cars and regular R8's. They appreciate the rarity and are proper enthusiasts...How many dealers would bring in their Master Tech (Damian) specifically on a Saturday just so he can babysit the PDI and prep of my car! Damian removed all the wheels and fettled the hubs to remove any traces of corrosion before lightly greasing the mating surfaces before re-assembly. He's also personally fitting the Cat5 tracker.
Here's another couple of pics!
Roll on Wednesday More pics will follow then. Should look like a chuffing Toffee Apple!

I've owned both manual V8 and V10 R8's and a manual Gallardo spyder.
Forgive me if my opinion on the manual box differs from a bloke who (as far as I can see) only drove one once on track day

Hurry up and give us some driving impressions. Mine is another one in hibernation until spring.
I have not seen a single road test, or driving impressions report from anywhere yet. Hope that is not a bad sign
This is a very under the radar car.
The car is great, been driving mine around for a couple of weeks now. It definitely feels different from the Quattro models you can really feel the rear wheel thrust in the car. Winter tyres are on my car and with the conditions you don't get all the power down if you try to go full throttle. Not had much of a chance to get it on a back road but will definitely do this weekend. The Sports exhaust is class, the tone inside and outside the car is really nice.I have not seen a single road test, or driving impressions report from anywhere yet. Hope that is not a bad sign

Definitely a thumbs up from me. If you want to know anything specific just let me know and I'll try to answer.
Mine should be arriving at the dealer this week but won't be on the road until March. I'm going to get a Gtechniq ceramic coating on mine as well but I'm still undecided between the Crystal Serum Ultra or Light. I'm planning on using Exclusive Car Care which is based in Wiltshire but he isn't prepared to do the work at the dealer so I'll need to take the car to him either after it's been registered or on a trailer before then. Do you know which product you are having applied Tarka?
congrats to all on the new cars, looks v nice in red tempted by one of these at some point. Currently have gen1 facelift v10+ which is mighty but i'm sure these new models have moved the game on especially in terms of interior tech. One thing I had done with my car was to remove the Audi badge off the front just looks cleaner...looking at the last pic of the red one I think the car would look even better without that badge on the nose

Here's exactly what Lance did to prepare the car “First of all, we deep cleaned the vehicle taking care not to scratch the paint.
Motorsplash Fallout Remover was used to decontaminate the paint work.
Motorsplash Snow Foam
2 x Bucket safe wash
Blow Dried
Fine Clay bar and Motorsplash quick detail to get rid of any surface contaminants
Windows cleaned
Next, we masked up the car and went over the vehicle with lights to inspect the paint
A paint reading was then taken before we selected the pads to cut and refine with
Single stage Enhancement was then Used to enhance the Gloss levels and take out any imperfections to the paint.
The wheels were also taken off and thoroughly cleaned and then Applied with Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour. We also applied this to the Callipers.
The next stage was to coat the car with Gtechniq Crystal Serum light (2 coats)
After leaving it over night we applied Exo V2 on top for extra protection (2 coats were applied)
The next stage was to seal the windows and we decided on Chemical Guys Seal as the best option (This gives a 12-month rain repellent)
The interior was also thoroughly detailed and Gtechniq C6 was applied to the dash and L1 to all fabrics.
The engine bay was then dressed.
The final step was to once again go over the car checking for any imperfections and to make sure the coating had cured correctly.”
I have to say, this is the best detailing job I’ve ever had, first time I’ve used MotorSplash. Highly recommended! The car looks like it is covered in glass!
