Also fetishising over old Benz’s at the mo.

The nearside does look a bit out of sorts. Nevertheless, a lovely looking thing and the price doesn’t seem unreasonable given the work. But whoever laid those setts wants shooting!
"Laid those setts" is not a phrase I've ever encountered, but I understand and agree completely.

The Benz I most want is this (out of budget, not really a barge warning), with a touch of de-Pinterestation it'd be amazing.

Picked up this Merc E350 Sport this evening. High miles, but has been loved and cherished, and so drives perfectly.
Very very happy!!
I think that’s a rare find - last of that model, but with the first of a new engine (or updated version) ?

No thread, but I can take a few pics and I'll happily give you a quick run down if Threaders don't mind. I'm not sure if anyone would be interested in seeing a dedicated thread for it? I can happily do that though, if people think it's worth it.
Yes please. A short write-up here would be ideal.

Early versions of the M272 had balancer shaft issues. This engine is the modified version from the factory. The car has just broken 181k miles, but you would never know, it's simply fabulous.

Well as suspected I was way off the money on an 525i E39 Touring I had my eye on, on the bay of E. It seems £1,500-ish does not buy a decent 525i/530i but I am not really surprised.

On a smaller scale, petrol E46 Tourings - any good?

The photos seem to go against the text. The photos are poor with no internals and yet the knowledge on door openers seems beard like.

He's the sort of man who goes to the trouble of hanging his jacket in the rear rather than launching it on the rear seat, but can't be bothered to take it out for the sales pics. confused
You're right. He sounds proper weird. I bet he's on here and 'one of us'!
He also has a Volvo 480 ES for sale

Congrats on the purchase - v nice. These were on my radar when I thought my s211 might not be fixed but I was not sure how to recognise which engines were unaffected.

Does the Sport designation essentially replace the Avantegarde spec? My knowledge gets a bit sparse post facelift

The link below can tell you how to check if your engine is impacted.

Not sure if the Sport trim level replaced the Avantgarde.

I had one new a long time back. I liked it, although being a cheapskate and 'with my own money' meant that it was only an SE spec. It is significantly smaller than the 5s though.

We sold it (at a profit (tax-free buy)) because it just wasn't big enough in the rear for child seats and family detritus. It was a decent steer though, and I was sorry to see it go, but the V70 that replaced it was an all-round better package.

Comment only to approve the use of "undercrackers", which is my absolutely favourite word for undercrackers

I think those Lexus GS are nice. They are much better looking in the flesh tha in photos where they look tall and awkward.

I don't think I disagree, but they look more Avensis-like than the LS. That might not be a bad thing I suppose. The interior looks lower-rent than the big sibling though.

Less Avensis than an LS430 though hehe.

Out of budget, however I didn't know they did the same body with the 4.6L newer LS engine.

"Massive 350bhp as standard, and 8 speed semi auto box so 35 mpg easy to get"

That must be quite the sleeper, 2-3 gears and 60ish hp over a 430 version.

That's exactly the kind of grandad sleeper I love. You can give Dean the Sales Manager in his white Golf R something to think about (in a straight line, which is all Dean really knows about) while listening to recordings of The Archers on your compact cassette tape. Probably in near silence.

That might have overtaken the Volvo S80 V8 as my old git sleeper benchmark. Like the S80 V8 though I'm sure that rarity will keep values higher than I'd like to pay, even for leggy ones like this. £8k for a decade old Toyota with close to a quarter of a million miles on the clock is always going to taste like earwax to me.

My “The Man” just called to say that the gold 300e has passed its mot and is ready for collection.

I dropped it off months and months ago, but get a call at 8:45pm tonight as if it’s urgent that I collect it tomorrow. That’s life with a “The Man”. They move in mysterious ways!

Given the Reading registration I reckon there’s a very good chance that the first owner was BMW UK and it was a BMW employee management car. So only one actual customer owner until you!I
