You know Tributo means Tribute (or tax randomly).
I did, well not the tax bit.

Indeed. First time they've given one a third outing, I think.
It’s rare but not unprecedented. The most obvious is Testarossa/512TR/F512M , but there are also the 365GT GT4 2+2/400/400i/412, the Mondial 8/Mondial QV/Mondial 3.2/Mondial t , 308/308QV/328 and the 348tb/348GTB/F355.

Quite.

I was wondering the same thing.
Hopefully not long - A £100K 488 or a £70K F430......? It's easy all of a sudden. The man-maths are strong.
The weirdly cheap one at the moment is the 599. It has an Enzo engine, clean styling, and is modern and fast enough for most purposes.

Same can be said of the performance of anything over 300bhp on some roads? But all 700 horses will be usable every journey.

....and drive on. They are not inert, or lacking in feedback or involvement at any speed. It's what sets them apart of the lesser humdrum sports/supercars.

I can’t see how it would kill the brand at all.

Plenty of brands (car and other) cover massive price point ranges and as far as I can see they aren’t dead.
the allure of ferrari is the perception of wealth, they are status symbols (as well as being amazing cars) and for most just seeing one on the street is a special thing (i.e outside of London)

@ £50k they would sell in absolutely unprecedented numbers (if it was possible to meet the demand) and would be much more common place and lose a certain mystique. owners of high tier models would be angry and Lambo etc would pick up more sales
Drive a Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren or even a Porsche, the average person in the street will perceive wealth. Most folk have no idea what any of these cars cost, just that they are expensive and unaffordable to them.

not to me, and I buy their cars. Ferrari is the pinnacle of motoring to me, their heritage, their performance, the feeling they give to you when you drive the cars, the service they provide to the small band of customers who purchase their cars, it's on another level compared to any other marque. ownership is a very special experience, and nothing to do with others perception or status, at all.

Everyone has their own opinion but to my eyes this is not a classically bueatuful design.
The 488 Pista is more cohesive and better looking.
Most of the people in the market for such a car will be looking elsewhere myself included.
This is essentially a facelifted 488 which is essentially a facelifted 458 (a 10 year old car)
Even Porsche change their ubiquitous 911 more from generation to generation than this new design.
Only Ferrari can get away with turbocharging their V8 and making the design alot uglier and calling it a new model and charging the customer more (provided they can get on the list to order one)
And the name... dont even get me started. Ferrari has really lost its way and now only cares about churning out model after model to compete with the likes of McLaren and Lamborghini new facelifted models themselves.
I would much rather have a naturally aspirated 458 or the Pista even over this.
Ferrari fanboys and those not even in the market will no doubt love the design.

Absolutely. It drives me mad when people presume the only reason I own a Ferrari is to impress others. It says more about them than me though really.

I live in the middle of a city and I use my 458 every day, for just about every purpose; it goes to the gym, to tesco local, to get a coffee etc etc. Everything about it is so visceral and satisfyingly Italian; even the radio and air con that have a life of their own.

Even just pootling about is an event to me and makes even the most humdrum journey enjoyable. Other people are the only annoyance to ownership in fact...

Ferraris just get under your skin somehow. I cannot imagine ever not owning one again.

This F8 is magnificent...if I had the funds and the longterm relationship with my dealer that I'm sure is required to buy one right now, I'd have one in a flash...something I couldn't ever say about the 488 which never seemed right to me somehow.

No - having driven them, and lived with other cars above over 500bhp, my comments were based on fact/experience (and echoed by the owner above). Buy if you've found the modern Ferrari's you've driven to be inert and never got the chance to use the power, then that's your opinion/experience.

To be used on the road I would prefer my old 360 CS. That was already quick enough (too quick really). Sounded much better (you can't beat NA) and looked less fussy. If I were going for a newer car than the CS I would take a 458 Speciale over any 488.

Stunning!

When I was a kid I was absolutely obsessed with the 355 and was properly upset when the 360 came out - it just looked so awkward to me, especially from the front. But now I think it is one of the prettiest Ferraris ever made . . . and those subtle but defined CS nostrils waaaarrghhh

Well we will have to disagree then. I was genuinely surprised when i bought my first Ferrari several years ago and happened to meet several other owners, who like me cared not one jot about perceived status. It’s at itch I wished to scratch as an enthusiast, since visiting motorshows in the 80’s i wanted to try a prancing horse, the motorsport heritage, the mystic of Ferrari. I really couldn’t give a stuff about the image/impression driving a Ferrari says to other people about me. That has nothing to do with why i might sink my hard earnt cash into one. The cars are wonderful to drive, and the ownership experience is second to none. I love and enjoy an eclectic range of cars, but Ferrari are very very special.

Still looks fresh and modern, but aged enough to look classic. It's a hard thing to describe, it's just so right, almost timeless.

You're not wrong - though they have definitely bounced a bit over the past 18 months or so.
Until then they were getting very attractive....

From what I've seen, the £5-figure 599s are slightly suspect / left-hookers - like that ME-spec Red/Red car that's been hanging about on AT for a few months.

From Dealers, a UK car is £120K plus, but as is so often said on here, the 2-year warranty is worth a fair chunk of cash on a 599 that is approaching 10 years old...
