Your car's fuel range display on a full tank
Discussion
Had a Cayenne S with the 4.8 engine. Came with the extended range tank and could regularly see 650 miles on a tank, without trying too hard. However, over a tank, there was no way you would get that. I did manage to get just under 500 real world miles out of a tank, but it was just the way it would calculate the average MPG and hence range. Drive it around town though and that would be as low as 280 miles! A pretty impressive drop!
Great car, but the variability on the range and economy wasn’t good.

Another Volvo diesel, result of a fill just before boarding a ferry that I had been in plenty of time for.
That's about 875 miles, although best actually achieved is 700 miles on 70 litres
I think it's very deliberate that governments want to see ICE car weights quoted with a full tank of fuel, leading to smaller tanks being fitted. It's easier to make ICE cars less capable than it is to make electric cars more capable,

What year cayenne? Our 2013 GTS struggles to get 500kms out of its 100 litre tank Great car, but the variability on the range and economy wasn’t good.
Our 2015 Audi A5 3.0TDi Quattro has shown 605 miles. Never had more than 520 miles after a long run to Scotland and keeping to speed limits.
Our 2006 Audi A6 2.7TDi FWD manual. Getting a “full” fill takes an awful lot of patience. I can sometimes get another 10 litres or so in the tank after the first click but I have to reduce the flow to a trickle to achieve that - I don’t think it vents properly when filling and suspect air makes a full tank difficult to fill properly.
After a gentle run the DIS shows 875 miles doing this and the needle stays on full for the first 200 miles. The best mileage I’ve achieved on a properly full tank is 700 miles. With a big tank mileage is more likely to comprise mixed driving. On Motorway runs at 65-70 mph 55mpg is possible. Overall average though is 44mpg.
The A5 by comparison is actually full on the first click and doesn’t need topping up. I’ve seen 52mpg on a similarly gentle run. Normally I’ll average 42 mpg - I tend to prefer a smooth drive being gentle on the pedals, going with the flow, as my commute would be frustrating otherwise. Too busy - I adopt eco mode. Empty road with plenty of chances to pass and make unhindered progress, then I’ll open the taps.

Going slightly O/T, my Mrs' Clio will display the range and count it down in 1 mile increments - until you get to 30 miles remaining then you get a - - - message.
So when you actually need to know your range for avoiding running out of fuel purposes, it is of no help. And, yes, she has more than once.
Our Alfa does the same thing, stupid bloody thing. So when you actually need to know your range for avoiding running out of fuel purposes, it is of no help. And, yes, she has more than once.
I think I have once seen an estimated range of 400 miles in the M6, but getting 300 would be a miracle.
I have been known to get 120 out of a full tank with short commuting and 'spirited' driving. In fact most tanks are less than 150 miles....

90L tank, often shows less than 500… kms
15mpg average - what's that in? Super is half price here though, so that helps
I have a thread for querying the accuracy of the digital display in my Volvo s80, if any other people on here have such a display I'd be grateful for any comments.

My i30N usually claims around 300 miles when refilled. In reality, 250 is a safe bet.
Back in the early noughties, I ran a Peugeot 406 HDi 90PS as a company car and was doing a lot of business mileage, so it spent a lot of time sitting at 70-80 on the motorway. 800 miles to a tank was pretty normal, and I cracked 900 once when "trying". It was gutless, but very frugal.

I filled the Galaxy up with diesel at the weekend. Was utterly horrified that 61 litres of V power cost me £99!
Was at least slightly mollified by the dash readout claiming a mighty 745 miles to empty. Which, given the 70 litre tank, is probably achievable, with steady motorway driving and a willingness to play fuel light roulette...
