This is a great article.
I bought a mint 172 Cup last summer... mapped to 190bhp.
If only it were that simple I bought a mint 172 Cup last summer... mapped to 190bhp.
Sounds like a great car though, enjoy
Anyway, I really do love driving the car and would recommend an old RenaultSport to anyone

Lol...You're funny but I like to respond to posts directed at me out of courtesy so long as it's not rude or offensive. Don't have any affiliation with the guy other than being a member of the FB group as I own a Clio also and prices and values were being discussed here hence its relevance?Maybe I'm just naive but I guess its Pistonheads so it's to be expected.

What are your thoughts on the 1*2’s, do you have a favourite?
Both great cars, but the 172 Cup is my favourite, will never part with that car. I love my 172 Cup, had it 11yrs this month & no plans to ever sell it!
Probably the best car I’ve ever owned despite having owned various ‘better’ cars.

It still amazes me people continually praise the Megane F1 R26 when the first Megane F1 Team Limited Edition RS225 was a superior vehicle and more exclusive the Alpine Blue was also a far more becoming colour than Victory Yellow.
It’s amazing the difference a bit of suspension tuning can make.I think every version of RS Megane was not critically acclaimed upon release, but then developed to near perfection over its model life. Evo magazine helped develop the Megane 225 Trophy, in part because they could see the potential in the chassis. This preceded the F1 225, which was a Cup/Trophy with different rear dampers and a paint/sticker job, which was then developed further for the R26, with a slight power increase.
The key difference with the R26, and why it’s become the ultimate version, is the LSD. This dramatically altered its on track behaviour and they did a great job of tuning it, unlike the Focus RS and other similarly powered fwd hot hatches of the era, where the LSD increased the effect of torque steer.
The R26 also came in 8 different colours, including the Ultra Blue of the 225 F1.

How was it superior? I thought the R26 was the first with an LSD which transformed it?DrWildare said:

among other inaccuracies, neither “Alpine Blue” nor “Victory Yellow” are actual names of colours.Koolkat969 said:
This has to be the lowest mileage Clio 182 in the country @ 1,687 miles....yes, that's correct.
Been stored over the years because the owner apparently has cars and properties all over the country. Here's the link....

Offers are invited and i wonder how much it will eventually sell for. Surely, it will be the most expensive Clio 182 sold to date. Watching with interest!
The mechanic who will be working on mine over here in Italy recently told me that he sold an absolutely perfect 182 with ~10.000 Kms on the clock to a French customer for a staggering 20.000 € (~17.000 £). TBH had anyone told me that, I would not have believed it, but knowing the person and the fact that he has no interest whatsoever to lie about this, I can't stop thinking it's true. Madness? Probably yes. Been stored over the years because the owner apparently has cars and properties all over the country. Here's the link....

Error, the The Twingo 133 does not have a 6 speed gearbox and it's one of my biggest complaints...
This in spades. A 6th gear would make it much nicer on longer drives. culpz said:

The Twingo makes zero sense. It’s a 1*2 chassis with a lower powered engine and less legroom and the same money.
Other than having a newer reg why would you bother?
I used to agree with you, but i have started to like them more and more recently. They're great looking little things IMO, and, as you already stated, they are newer, so I'm guessing they will suffer less niggly little electrical issues and such compared to the older Clio's. Running costs may be a little bit cheaper but, tbh, there probably won't be much in it. They're also less sought after, so they can be had cheaper now. Possibly a little bit more exclusive too?Other than having a newer reg why would you bother?
One thing i never realised until recently is that they suffer the same cold-start kangarooing attributes as the 197, so that's a little bit frustrating.
Interestingly, out of that lot, i actually kinda find myself being drawn to the little Twingo compared to the rest.
What she wants from a car it is perfect for her.
I know people don't like the face lift, but it is the better looking car. Rear looks better, front does and the interior looks a bit more sportier.
To clarify the Alpine link - some time after Renault acquired Alpine, the production of Alpine cars was discontinued, but the factory (at Dieppe) continued without a pause but with the name changed to RenaultSport.
So if you like a RenaultSport ........ thank Alpine.
Fast forward to 2018 and the A110 was launched, which was completely designed by Alpine at Dieppe. Most of the car comes from Italy (bodywork, chassis, suspension, seats, brakes) and Germany (gearbox, wheels) and is assembled and finished at Dieppe. Only a base engine comes from Renault in Paris together with minor parts-bin items.
