The Monaro and the VX220 are great, the rest incredibly naff in their own ways. No surprise, since the two good ones are not really Vauxhalls at all.

I can’t believe you ignored Cavalier sri icons of the 80s.
Getting harder and harder to find now so maybe you chose the low hanging fruit rather than search for the best

I’m sure the BMW is definitely superior in terms of higher running, servicing and parts costs.
And importing Holden parts from Oz won't be at all biglaugh

If it’s engine and transmission stuff, you can get it from the USA. They’re pretty cheap to service.

There will be some HSV-specific bits of trim, but otherwise the most expensive bit will be fuel use biggrin

I also don’t think there’s a large market for aftermarket warranties on HSVs or Holdens - owners don’t seem overly concerned by potential expensive borkage.

Why is the VXR8 so expensive compared to V8's of a similar vintage from other manufacturers?

I'd assumed the whole point of a V8 powered Vauxhall/Holden is its supposed to be blue collar V8 but it's actually more expensive than Merc or BMW to name just two.
Well it was cheaper when new. Looks like it turned out to be an almost depreciation proof car.
Pretty much this. Over here the list price was about AU$95k, and prices start at around AU$85k for a 2015 GTS now.

To be fair, the title is ‘VERY fast vauxhalls’

A 1980’s Cav SRI with 130bhp and a 0-60 of 8.5 seconds doesn’t really meet that expectation wink

My aforementioned Cavalier Turbo does, and last time i checked, £10-15k would get you one of those.

The 90’s Cavalier Turbo? Perhaps

Not the 80’s Cavalier SRI that Fossn mentioned.
