Its hideous!

Look at this, its efortlessly beautifull, with brilliant proportions
No. Much as I like the old XJ, it peaked with the MKIII XJ6, and even then it was compromised with horrible bumpers:Seriously, what were they thinking,

The new XJ has more in common with the (just as controversial when new) MK X/420 IMO:

That interior just makes everything that Germany do look second or third rate. Bloody superb!
Need's to as the exterior makes you , very exchangeable. lexuslike at best, ford or opel like at worst - what works well for the smaller XF as it looks sharp and dynamic here lokks like it has indigestion and is bloated - a missed chanceI agree the old design was on its last legs but at least it was not ugly

Yes, very poor rear end. Rest of it looks great but the back said "Scorpio" to me...HHHMMMMMMMMMMMHHHHH!
YES! They are both silver.

Wandered past a Jag dealer a couple of times today and was in and around the vicinity. They seemed to be doing a decent trade in test drives.
Having seen it in the flesh, it does look better than expected and unsurprisingly the big sticky bit is the rear end. The lights & boot still ain't great but the black placky on the rear pillars is just an absolute deal killer (unless you buy black - expect a wait for one!).
Shame really as with a little bit of tweaking (tiny bit to the front as well) it could be very much on the money. A little bit of work and non-designer bullst viewpoint would see it as an easy choice compared to the competition.
For months already I am thinking what to buy? A 7-series or the new XJ. If the XJ drives like the 7-series I would buy the XJ, although the last 7-series has also a much better design than the former one! To make it more difficult I am also considering a Gran Cabrio. The only fun car you can sit in with 4. Because of my mid-life crises I think the it will be the Maserati

It is too late for a visit to Specsavers, so you must ask a sighted friend to talk you through the options available on here.

PS Though to be fair the interior is great, and that's where you spend most of your time.
Dunno, maybe I'm not moving with the times. But the pic in this article shows a sea of gray IMO.And take a look at the hidous steering wheel, looks like something from FisherPrice!
Wanting to see it in the flesh, I popped into the local Jaguar dealership, but the fella there said it'll not be out until June-ish, as there are some reliability problems, and Jaguar aren't releasing it until these are all sorted.
I am going to reserve judgement about the exterior styling until I see one of these in the flesh. Other than to say that if you look at the video the car has something of the original Rover 3500 SD1 about it, which is a good thing rather than a bad thing.
The interior is, well - "different" in a good way, and it is following Jaguar's current interior styling themes. But one thing I do not understand as an ex pilot is why so many manufacturers insist on you taking your eyes off the road to look that far down the centre console at the Nav screen. If you are going some, that head movement and the associated refocusing requirement are a no no. Maybe alright on a Motorway in daylight, but not good on a B Class road at night. All they had to do was switch the siting of the jet engine exhausts and the Nav/Info screen and the problem would have been resolved.
I haven't read the spec in full, so if this car has a Head Up display which puts the Nav info on the screen just below the driver's sight line, like a Corvette or some of the German alternatives, I withdraw the above observation !
Disregarding the above, if it provides the thrust and ride/handling balance of the other new Jaguars, people should buy this car on principal rather than spending the money on the foreign alternatives. If we Brits bought Indian Jaguars built by British designers, engineers, factory workers, and using parts supplied by as many British suppliers as possble, we might just have an economy in 10 years time. Most powerful economy in Europe ? That's the German one I believe, and that's partly because so many of us bought German cars for the last decade or two. Come on all you British Execs and still gainfully employed Brits, buy the XJ, XF, and XK models - in the interests of getting Britain's economic situation sorted more quickly, or we are going to be taxed till we squeak over the next 15 years.

The fact that the X300 was so gorgeous hasn't made it easy for jaguar. They did need to move on, and i like this XJ. OK, it might not look stunning from every angle(like the X300), but it has some really nice touches and that interior is the best i've seen in any executive/luxury car.
The curved woodwork lines remind me of a classic Italian Riva powerboat.
A time-less design that those with an aesthetic education will appreciate.
The rear view of the car looks bloated.
The c-pillar treatment works very well in hiding bulk in the side elevation.

The interior is stunning, profile and front elevations look excellent but I think they dropped the ball a bit at the back - may look better in the flesh, mind.
Fantastic that Jaguar are doing things a little different, I really hope they can translate this positive publicity into sales and financial success.
