RE: 'Open Season': PH Goes Topless For Winter
Discussion
My favourite car unable to make the Sporting Bears Dream Rides at this November’s Classic Motor Show at the NEC
Topless in more than one sense – car is out on the road topless in all but laying snow (tyres too wide and too much torque)
and one very cold January day at Northamptonshire PH meet

Am I the only person to include custard?!
yes but your's was a half tin effort and we don't all have cameras available (and at the risk of sounding a Luddite I've not even got a mobile phone, unless you count the cordless house phone, let alone one with a camera built in)
but I'll see if I can persuade SWMBO out with the bribe of a half or two of real ale and get her to take one of her misframed photos - subject to it not being cold enough to crack or crease the rear plastic window
You've asked for it so ya gonna get us fully exposed
Pah, in my car it's always open season!
No roof since June, not even the provision to fit one...
wed this pic a lot over the past week, but always in context!
Pic taken ten minutes before driving...

Went for a 90 mile drive today, I was going to say blast but given the road condition's that would not of been an appropriate description.
Despite having only driven the car in nasty conditions I can feel the quality of the chassis underneath, really really looking forward to taking it for a proper hoon.
The fact that we stopped to grab a couple of ice-creams was almost too much for the lad behind the till to cope with

That is absolutely gorgeous. Gents, I took the camera out with me today especially for this thread.
Pics aren't great as with gloves on all I could manage was 'auto' and 'press'.
I drove as far as I could before getting stuck. Tried to get up that hill, no chance. Had to do a donut in the road to turn round
A Police Freelander came past, stopped, wound down the window, they gave me a 'are you friggin mental' look, asked if I was ok then crawled off shaking their heads!
This was the hill that finally proved too much.
View over the vale of York.
Yuk. Made my own ice rink on the drive when I got home by washing it all off too.

Is it acceptable in a 4 seat convertible?
Good god yes. Get those pictures up!Had a great afternoon today mucking about in the (pretty base) Boxster we have in for the weekend and which Garlick began the weekend with. Absolutely great fun - sports exhaust sounded wonderful, it was a cold clear afternoon and I did 50 or so miles just meandering around the Surrey countryside. Tremendous stuff!
Drove from Cockermouth to Carlisle today with top down - plenty of strange looks, the worst bit was on arriving (at cinema to watch new Harry Potter - don't bother, all build up for last film and rather boring) was the pigging thing had frozen! Took a hell of a tug to get it shut, hope I haven't damaged it (MX-5 of course...)
Gents- i give you the SNOMAX! (it's a Lomax)
This is just while it was warming up, I was planning on getting a video and some more pics OTR, but that would have meant taking my gloves off, and at -2 degrees C + wind chill it wasn't worth the pain. After about 10 mins on the road we both had to stop to re-adjust our scalfs/buffs. It was bloody cold out there. The number of "what the fk, are you completely off your rocker" looks we got was immense. To all you puffs with windscreens, MTFU.

Right it’s taken me 2 hours to get this photo off the wife’s camera and onto the computer, don’t I just love 'no need for program disk all done via the manufacture’s web site'
As it was a sunny Sunday, possibly 8 degrees, then no problem with roof down from Mrs A as I‘d promised to drive her to drink
The MG shielded digital thermometer, my gloved fingers, showed comfortable on the journey out (a fair bit cooler on the return)
We took some of Northamptonshire’s excellent country roads including a lovely stretch of empty fast flowing A-road that normally would be a little too straight and wide for fun in the Midget but today it was a sensible pleasure choice
Six attempts to get a reasonable photo then inside one of the county’s excellent village pubs for some fine local real ale and a basket of scampi and chips each
We decided to go back on the same roads and get the scenery from the opposite direction, by now the sun was low and casting shadows from the hedgerows that meant looking out even more for icy patches and puddles
A bracing ride back confirmed by arriving home in the shade and 4 degrees
Nice car slomax

You'll have to take my word for there being on the car a fresh, recently purchased 12 month RFL, even coloured coded, as the photos from the front were worse than this Nice car slomax
