Cars taking on bikes (again)

Everyone should have a Disco. If you are embarking on an adventure or just a long drive, they are hard to fault.
And bikes are faster.
I've had enough adventures.;)And bikes are faster.
Miss the bikes though. Never say never. My neighbour's got 8 in his garage and he can only ride one at a time ...
I think I'll give the AJS a miss though.

He’s gone again, it’s amazing how he disappears whenever he gets called out to back up his claims, maybe his mum has just made his tea, or is it bedtime?
Nice car, but I’m sure av185 or browngt3 will be along soon to tell you that it’s a heavy old lump amd slow, they did that about a Murcielago a while back.
Ha you Billy big bks biker chaps just keep on giving too Nice car, but I’m sure av185 or browngt3 will be along soon to tell you that it’s a heavy old lump amd slow, they did that about a Murcielago a while back.
And strangely, but true to form, you seem to have gone all quiet and in self denial on the JOG to LE car record smashing the bike. Now why would that be? Fragile egos taken a knock perhaps
Suppose next you will refer back to your previous hollow argument about the bike record being 30 odd years ago when you were 45 so the latest car record doesn't count.
Be interesting to see what a proper fast car would do in place of the Audi. Seeing as you love telling everyone you have such a fast car with your M4 (Competition no less!!!) why not step up the challenge yourself or even better try it on your superfast bike.
After all you have told everyone on here how absolutely awesome and fast you are (in fact the fastest biker around...no less lol) and how you often do 100 mph on the public road. What could possibly go wrong?
Oh and as expected you've clearly not driven a Murcielago btw.

Av185. Pick a trackday and I’ll meet you there in one of my lowly fleet. It’d be great to learn some new lines.
Acting or driving lines? Thanks for the offer and I am at Silverstone a few times over the summer so we could maybe arrange something.
Always good to see a picture of a Ferrari.
Monkey Harris video of a 458 Speciale and 991.1 GT3 together at Anglesey track always worth watching.

several years ago the yellow gt3 driver i passed on a long left hand bend on the way to the kyle of lochalsh with rain bouncing off the road certainly was. he might not have been trying but i would suggest the fact he was north of 100mph would suggest otherwise.
Nice road and one that we have driven many times.Edited by wc98 on Wednesday 30th May 19:17
Have you driven a GT3 on cup tyres at over 100 mph on very wet winding roads?

I’ve not gone quiet at all, I gave my views and they stand. Here they are again though. There is nothing to be gained by racing people or the clock on open public roads, especially over such a distance. Racing / time trials are for short circuits and closed roads. Most adults would agree. And strangely, but true to form, you seem to have gone all quiet and in self denial on the JOG to LE car record smashing the bike. Now why would that be? I’ve mentioned my car a couple of times and not for quite a while, but somehow it riles you.
For the umpteenth time, being awesome is an in joke with a few posters on this thread and many in Biker Banter, but that seems to not be getting through to your brain.
You’re wrong I have driven a Murcielago and the other one they make, a friend (who runs a race team in BSB) has had Lamborghinis for years, but that’s now one of those great big Wraith things instead. I can’t afford one, I’m happy to admit that, so you can have a self-centred smile to yourself. It was fast.

No but Mummy might lend me her M4 shopping trolley snotter for the weekend....not that it would be much use on track as we all know.
Why the obsession with my car? I haven’t mentioned it in ages (other than in passing as a car), but you keep bringing it up. How’s your M3 btw? Or is that another one of your dad’s fleet, or is it really your mum’s car?Gavia said:

My, you are showing your age.You mean nothing to be gained other than smashing an established record in a largely standard car which was previously held by a bike (in the days long before scameras etc etc btw which now make it far harder).
Riiight.
Even more comedic is your above statement after your bragging regularly about overtaking lines of cars on your bike at 100mph on public roads.

I can and do speed a lot on roads. I tend to aim for deserted or quiet roads where I’m less likely to hurt anyone other than myself. Bombing along on a public road through heavily populated / traffic areas is just stupidity of the highest order. I guess I am showing my age after all, I didn’t think anything of it when I was a teenager like you.

Lots of people....judging by the thread on PH alone.
Try reading it then report back.
You certainly care. More than anyone else here, since it's you that keeps banging on about it.Try reading it then report back.
Thought so.
Most posters on here are bikers anyway so it is quite understandable they would choose to dismiss indisputable facts when it suits them.

I suspect everyone who has posted on here is a car driver. The car drivers who can and do ride motorbikes can speak from an informed, experienced position. The car drivers who don't ride motorbikes can only speak from a position of ignorance and inexperience.Regarding the LE>JOG run, I really can't imagine who would want to attempt it, whether they use a car or a bike. Is the possibility of a briefest-of-brief claim to fame for an unofficial record worth losing your licence or even going to prison? Not for me and I strongly suspect not for the vast and overwhelming majority.

I agree but seeing as you are qualifying it, I will qualify it further by saying they can only speak from an informed position about the bikes and more significantly the actual cars they have owned or had substantial experience of over time.av185 said:

Ownership is irrelevant. Indeed, even experience of a particular car can be an irrelevance if fundamental skill is of a high enough level.I've owned a few bits and peices over the years, M3's, 911's and still have a TVR Chimera.
I also have a few bikes. I'm not going to say I'm the best rider in the world, but I'm ok. It's far easier to take a brave pill in a car than it is a bike, and of the cars I've owned, most powerful probably being a Carrera 4S, they just don't come that close, even to a 600.
I live in Milton Keynes, and I have an old GSXR 600 (1998) and if anyone would like to have a little toe to toe along a few arrow straight currently unadopted roads in MK that I know of then I am more than happy to oblige.
I'm not saying the bike will come out on top, just putting the offer out there for anyone that wants to know how thier car compares to a 20 year old baby super sport.

Having owned many 'hot' cars over the years and also many supersports bikes such as the R1, GSXR 1000, Fireblade I can honestly say there it is night and day what you get out of each in terms of satisfaction. Bikes are not very forgiving if you mess up, cars you can have your moments and learn. Performance is breath taking on bikes and you don't need to spend much to have the performance of a £100k car. A lack of pics so here's my 'breathed upon' Suzuki GSX1400 with 150 bhp at the rear wheel with bucket loads of torque. Performance is up there with the litre bikes, my road car is a Civic type R FK2 310bhp (65 plate) and my bike absolutely leaves it standing in a straight line.
