Right, certainly, it's not something I would do myself. I know this isn't the right way to do Bargain Basement but I prefer to get a professional to do the work.
If the parts are very expensive, replacing the dust covers is a valid repair providing there’s no play in them - you’ll need a proper under the arches type garage for maintaining old st like this without draining your wallet though.

Aye cash in hand no receipt type garage if you're going to pay for work on a £700 car

Thanks. I have no idea if the parts are expensive or not. I did see some prices which were under £100 but I may have been looking at the wrong parts!

new pads..assuming disks are ok £80, should be a relatively simple DIY
Tyres , 235/50/17 are about £80 for a known name mid range, 3 required soon/now (OSF looks to have some life from pics but cant see rest)

car is fairly cheap but then its probably in need of £300+ of spend immediately.
You're doing this wrong.

Pads from ebay and tyres are TingTong Ditchfinders. No way you spend on mid range tyres and decent pads.

300bhp v8 and you'd fit the cheapest rubber available , no wonder you're called Tyre Smoke!

I put similar on my old Chimaera. They used to last 2-3 trackdays unlike the Bridgestone SO2s!!

Spotted this just now while idly browsing for sheds. Could someone please buy it before I do something utterly stupid and inexplicable.

You're not helping. But I think the VED would kill this one for me, nearly as much as the cost of buying the car. This will probably go in the same file marked "narrow escapes" as the Renault 25 Turbo I nearly bought a few years ago. On a three mile test drive every single warning light on the dash lit up. Shame, it was a lovely thing with those big squashy leather chairs that luxury French cars used to have.

Isnt it too old for that high VED band?

I suppose it depends on the deal you strike, but £325 is a lot less than the asking price

Hoofy - a couple of premium tyres on the front of that S-Type and a couple of space savers on the back. That’s what you need
