What about disable who park in parent and child when there are disable bays?

Is this ok as disable is legally recognised and over rules supermarket rules?

Its a problem in some placed I have been as elderly badge holders seem to get a badge and use it as a park were ever i please badge!

I wouldn't want their life and I wouldn't begrudge them parking in P&C.

I would imagine for some of the 'offenders' they are unaware.

I have my legs, eyes and all my other faculties. I'm not going to be upset by someone who is less fortunate. And that also extends to the disability of not having domestic staff to care for the children so you can go shopping without them. biggrin

The issues is the number of badge holders that jump out of their car and almost sprint into the store. No issue with truly mobility restricted people using P&C spaces when all disabled spaces are full.....DO have an issue when Disabled spaces are not full, and even more when it's questionable use of blue badge.

Upto what age child is acceptable to park in these bays?
The intent of the bays is clear - it's to allow extra room for getting kids into and out of child seats, to allow prams to be brought along side etc

Once your child is old enough that they you no longer require this additional space to get them into and out of the car - i'd question whether using them is acceptable.

This my local Tesco. The cars on the left starting at the Peugeout, Focus and Seat are all P&C bays smile So at 0130 instead of parking where the BMW estate is I park near the door in the far left hand corner.

Wow, what a hero you are.
Cheers I have a cape and everything.

Are you suggesting that it's just as busy at 01-30, and it's only the p&c spaces that have become vacant?
At 0130 the spaces to the right may be full due to night staff and the p&c spaces are vacant, so it's a no brainer to park in the p&c space for the 5-10 minutes that i'd be in the store.

Questionable use of a blue badge is wholly different. Many aspects of the UK are no different than Greece in that lots of people claim benefits that they are not truly entitled to. But I think that is for a separate thread to be honest. Using a blue badge when not entitled is just the professional arm of the group who park in P&C without toddlers. Same s but operating at a pro level.

A couple of days ago I saw a Lycra clad gym bunny park in the disabled spaces at Tesco and sprint into the store. Here's an idea, hen - park further away, walk more and you can save a fking fortune on your no doubt extortionate gym membership! rolleyesrolleyes

You don't know why they have a blue badge. They are very strict on issuing them, and may people who do need one struggle. And fraudulent claiming of disability benefits is very rare. It does happen, but it is not very common. The biggest issue is people not reporting suspected fraud, because of an attitude that is prevalent on PH whenever dash cams or reporting dangerous driving comes up. "Why would you tell. Your not the police. It's not your job to enfoce the laws"

There is two more likely things

1) That person had a disability you can't see or understand
2) That person is not the one entitled to the badge and is either knowingly abusing someone elses, or unknowingly, as some people think they can use someone elses blue badge when doing something for them.

If you think someone is abusing it take details (Reg of the car, when and where it was, and the details of the person) and contact the council. They will know if that is the person the badge is issued to or not.

This is one of the things in life that infuriates me most!

i was waiting for a car to back out of a child space and i was waiting and indicating to pull into it when it was free and the other person had moved off.

Bu*ger me if some old codger and his pig ugly wife pulled AROUND me and into the space. I was so shocked about what happened i just sat there mouth hanging to the floor. Then opened my window and said are you kidding me!? i have a child in the car and hes reply was 'so'. in fact he got soo angry with me questioning him he was ready to have a fight with me there and then mid afternoon.

Now not being funny, im a big horrible looking bloke. but this guy was well up for it. Just suddenly remembered that poor bloke that got into a fight at an asda, he punched a guy in self defense in a row over a space and the guy he hit fell down on his head and died.

But this guy just kept coming and coming, in the end i said if you come any closer to me, my family or car your wife will be needing to call 999, because your going to need an ambulance.

I would like to point out that i am not a very violent person but will stand my ground if i think its justified or to protect my family.

I couldn't believe this guy, his aggression and readiness to just start a fight in the middle of a tesco car park even though he was in the wrong.

But this kind of aggression seems to be the norm these days here in south London. Sad really

Um, yes, you were both having a whinge about blue badge abuse and benefit fraud. But then you would probably rather complain and get angry on a forum than, you know, actually do something.

Well it comes down to whether you agree with the issuing. People born with disability or who get them through accidents yes fine. But this issuing of them to folk who just have terrible diets and are now ill through their abuse of their bodies no.

When I see a guy on benefits who drinks 3 litres of coke a day and sits on his bum gambling online while his missus deals with his 6 kids and 7th which isnt his. You then find out he gets benefits and a brand new 25K zafira tourer sri all because he has eaten and drunk so much jung that his body is now classified as disable I think sod you you have done it to yourself.

Mostly elderly people who don't seem to be aware of what they are doing other than the blue badge entitles them to park anywhere status and take little notice of were they are parked, you can't knock them for having difficulties in old age but please look what you are doing and consider using the correct bays if avaiable.

Had a similar thing with a old guy and disable badge in p&c we had to wait for a space and missus was moaning as we got the kids out the car about this guy. He jumps out the car and says he has a blue badge cause he has heard her in doors moaning. I then say there are disable bays over there and he goes mad ask me what business of it is mine were he parks. I then say ill take a photo of your car and show the store this winds him up even more calls me a pervert situation is he seems to want a fight with a 6ft 3 big built chap when he is a little old 60 plus year old his wife turns up after shopping and he pipes down and gets back in. Seriously thought I may have to fight him at some point. I have met a few blue badge holders who when you question them turn very nasty and want a fight doubt they behave like that act the doctors!

Depends on the time of day, what i'm doing, and how busy it is.

9.30/10pm on a Saturday evening making a quick run to the cashpoint, or popping into the store for 5 mins, yeah i'd have no problem using one if there were loads of them free. Unlikely to be anyone needing one of the bays at that time so unlikely to inconvenience anyone.

A busy Saturday afternoon, regardless of what i was there for, i'd park in a normal spot, even if all the P&C bays were free as it's highly likely that they'll be needed at some point.

Both of these examples are more than enough to remind me why I do the majority of my shopping online.
