I might be misremembering - or it could be the Christmas Day booze addling my already addled brain - but I’m sure I saw your car a few days ago and smiled at the number plate. I’m in Islington but it could have been on my travels somewhere else in town.

Had this cheap plate for my Ghibli V6 S.
Kept it for my V6 hybrid Cayenne.
As my initials are GH I'll probably stick on the next V6 I get too.

Nothing flash but it was my mams plate. She passed away this year and I have taken on her car so I will almost certainly keep the plate.

Very likely! It has been getting quite a bit of evening use in town over the past few weeks ferrying people to sights, shows, meals etc as we have had family from America staying for a while! It is also used by my mates in the local informal car club that we run - on its way back from Gloucestershire today, whilst we are in London, for instance...

As the only 7 seat or awd car that any of us own, it has been in demand! More exotic stuff languished in the cold snap and busy Chrismas period.

Nice. On a similar theme I have M3 FSH. Originally lived on my absolutely mint E36 M3 GT which I sadly destroyed nearly killing myself in the process. On retention now.

I have a VGC plate that came with the car. The problem with it is the compulsion to keep the car in very good condition or risk ridicule.

Or go with "very good car", with no need to look after it :-)

I had M3 STK on my tvr. Replaced it with a tvr based plate. Not sure if STK works with M3s?

My wife, 2 sons and i have four plates, all L444 *** and with our 3 initials on each. Bought the first for my wife's 30th then the other 3 with a small inheritance as something we'll always keep and remember. No. 2 son is only 15 so his is on retention still.
Have photos of the 3 current cars together, 4 will be good.

There's an idea; a different interpretation.

Very geriatric custodian in my case.

I'm tempted... I have a couple of Noel Woodall & Brian Heaton Car Numbers Books and just wonder if this is just a repeat of them..?read

If you would have liked train spotting just for the numbers back in the day, then yes. I'm a self-confessed saddo, so I will read every word. It doesn't have the drama of a Freddie Forsythe or a Jack Higgins. smile

It is much more detailed than Noel Woodall's books, but is very much in the same style. Each LN (letter number) number has at least a paragraph. A lot of LL1 numbers have a paragraph. He does most of the LN numbers, the LL1-LL10 numbers, and a few that he thinks are worthy of a mention.

I've already found out what he thinks the first number is - it's not A1, and it's not what I thought.

It's 1312 pages of pure nerdiness - I love it nerdread

You may also know the author from your youth, if you watched young adult's dramas in the mid-70s. He was also in a series that I've not long finished watching - it wasn't Allo Allo, but it could have been its more serious sequel.
