Oooooh a Crown ... this may have been covered but what is driving like around the hills? It looks very chilled out compared to some places
Sorry, missed this. Not great, as there's no quiet road in HK, but I guess better than stuck in heavy traffic in the city.emix said:
Amazing pictures as usual. That Saab!!! And that crazy pink Huracan! Idk what it is but if it were done here it would seem in poor taste, but the way they did it over there, just works... Amazing!
Anyone know what body kit the black SL63 had on it?
Thanks again Rupro! I'm over the moon when I see there's been activity on this thread.
That's great! Thanks so much for the kind words. Not sure what the kit is on the SL63 I'm afraid... but, here's some more content for you ...Anyone know what body kit the black SL63 had on it?

Superb pics as always. MK1 Golf a lovely surprise. Is there something sinister about the blue Rav4 ?? Plate seems to hint at it….
Thanks! No, I don't think there's anything lurking under the bonnet. The owner used to have the plate on a Celica GT-Four.Edited by epom on Thursday 22 July 20:09

Thanks for the pics rupro! Have you managed to spot the orange Diablo again? The one we spoke about a few pages back?
Edited by emix on Friday 23 July 18:38
The green one is an early-90s Toyota Levin with a couple of mods...
Nope, not seen the orange Diablo around for a long while.

Great shots as usual, thanks.
That DC8(?) Integra from a few posts back got me searching for one for sale in the UK.
Cheers! Integras are utterly lovely and incredibly popular here (as are all Type-Rs), is it the 'DB8' 4-door ITR you're referring to? They're properly cool and you see them quite a bit here. Another one to add to my 'missed the boat' file...That DC8(?) Integra from a few posts back got me searching for one for sale in the UK.

Sorry yes, DB8, which I did know but just had 'DC' on my mind with the whole Integra thing! I remember there being one for sale in the UK probably 10+ years ago, but back then it didn't interest me. Now with age I quite like the idea of a compromised but more practical Type R (and very rare in the UK). Unfortunately I doubt they'd be much cheaper than the 'coupe' now..
Yeah, they were giving this sort of thing away here a few years ago. Not anymore, sadly...To wrap a weekend of some great motorsport, here's a bumper haul of photos from a couple of months ago back in May. As usual, I try my best to post different stuff from previous posts, but there might be the odd crossover. Hopefully there's something to tickle your fancy... Enjoy!

Don't think you'd feel short changed with either tbh
Agree! 20k for a really nice one might even seem like a steal further down the line.ConnectionError said:
Any idea why so many of the cars are on what looks like trade plates?
In fact two, the GTR and McLaren are running with the same plate.
Great photos!
Thanks! So, you need to pay First Registration Tax (a % of the list price or market value) on any previously unregistered car in HK. Are you sitting down...?In fact two, the GTR and McLaren are running with the same plate.
Great photos!
Private cars:
(a) on the first $150,000 (GBP 15,000) = 46%
(b) on the next $150,000 (GBP 15,000) = 86%
(c) on the next $200,000 (GBP 20,000) = 115%
(d) on the remainder = 132%
Motorbikes are a flat 35%
So, as you can see some owners choose to 'opt out' of paying the tax by driving their cars on a trade/dealer plate - this is obviously only allowed as a dealer moving a car from one location to another, so if caught then there's a chance to incur penalties.

Thanks
So a car worth £200,000
Would be taxed at £240,800?
Criky.
Yeah, so for example here's the Lambo base price list inc. that pesky FRT:So a car worth £200,000
Would be taxed at £240,800?
Criky.
Urus $3,695,430 up = GBP 369,000
Huracán RWD Coupé $3,598,915 up = GBP 359,000
Huracán RWD Spyder $3,980,000 up = GBP 398,000
Huracán Coupé $4,180,000 up = GBP 418,000
Huracán Spyder $4,480,000 up = GBP 448,000
Huracán Performante $4,880,000 up = GBP 488,000
Huracán Performante Spyder $5,380,000 up = GBP 538,000
Aventador S Coupé $6,680,000 up = GBP 668,000
Aventador S Roadster $7,280,000 up = GBP 728,000
It ain't cheap being a Petrolhead in HK! Also, not quite sure what the transport department do with all that revenue. The roads are rougher than a badger's arse.
Nobody asked for this (and I am starting to dust off my flame suit), but it's almost guaranteed that some of you enjoy two wheels as much as you do four. So, we thought we'd share with you some of our other photos that we take when doing car images. Not a massive expert on bikes to be sure (although my photog partner in crime and I have owned a Monster, W650 and an R6 (the one with gold wheels below), but based on my pretty slim knowledge I think that some of the stuff here ticks some boxes. Anyway, enjoy a little coffee break away from Hong Kong cars.

That Pajero is awesome!
The Evo? Love them! There seem to be so many back on the roads here now. I saw four during one afternoon just passing near my work. You used to find them abandoned in the countryside in bushes and stuff. I think now the value of Japanese cars has gone crazy, people are recommissioning them - that's how it seems anyway. If you like them then in the coming weeks there will be some more photos rodericb said:
Wow the variety of bikes is as amazing as the variety of cars!

Very cool photos! Love the vintage superbikes!
Yes, very nice indeed. I especially love the Rothmans liveried NSR 250 2-stroke. Perfection! So, I moved back to England. My partner in 'prime' (lens joke - ouch) is still shooting the car scene in HK, but I am here in Blighty now. Now on with the interesting stuff...
Some HK highlights in the weeks after my last photo post back in August...
And some photos taken around the Big Smoke yesterday. Many of these may be pretty pedestrian to you guys, but having not spent much time in the UK during the last 20 years, they all hold some interest for me...
Oh, and I got over to Thruxton for a little track day. Here are some shots. Maybe a PH or two here?

Sad to see the end of what was an epic thread. But don't blame you for leaving HK!
Don't worry, we still have a crap load of photos that haven't been published here, and also my partner will be shooting for the time being. In fact my move back to the UK was a long time coming and unrelated to anything going on over there - just a coincidence.@epro Appreciated! Yeah the Supra is looking good. Doesn't even look big anymore.
