Before I took early retirement my last MD had a BMW M3 and a RRS supercharged, his predecessor wasn't all that into cars but he did have a large boat on the Clyde

Now I'm retired I have a RRS and my chief financial officer drives a Focus Clipper wink

Being the MD, did he tick the Imagine box on the options list?

This thread reminds me of the time I was doing some contracting for BMS.

One of the big boys from the US flew over to tell staff they were losing their jobs due to cuts. He flew from New York to Heathrow, then a private jet to Hawarden, and turned up in a chauffered car. That didn't go down too well. hehe

Head of Function drives a 320 ED.

Head of business for the country drives a Golf R and always has done ever since they came out. I dont fancy the tax liability on that !

Current company. Haven't a clue. Have never met him, have never actually seen him. But then i've only been there a fortnight.

But with 70,000 plus employees, i'm not likley to run into him in the canteen.

One of my previous places however was owned by a couple of brothers..... they had a tidy fleet betweent them.

Cars I saw:

Each had an S500.

One had a DB9, the other a DB7.

One regularly turned up at work in a 997 Turbo

Ones missus was often seen arriving in a CLS55.

Dad drove a SL55.

One had a yellow 360, and rumour had it the other had a "Red Ferrari" but he didn't bring it to work as he didn't like to show off!

It's an interesting point, that. Where do you draw the line? If I had my 'achievable' dream car, a 997TT, I would want to drive it to work every day but would fear everyone saying I earned too much etc etc. Would it be ok to rock up in an E92 M3? A Boxster? Or would you just buy a Focus TDCI for work? scratchchin

Don't know. It's a fine balance though.

I know an MD who has had an M1 for a good number of years but everyone who works for him knows he earned it and he is a total petrolhead.

Fiancée's amuses me the most. Powder blue 19. Z3 and a Suzuki x90, and he is straight.

An MD that I know of has four Range Rovers. I've absolutely no idea why. One is driven by his wife and two of them (including the one his wife drives) are identical in model, age and colour. The mind boggles.

He also has a Mercedes SL55 AMG, a Lamborghini Diablo, a Bentley Continental GT, a Bentley Flying Spur, an E39 M5, a Toyota Landcruiser, an MG of some sort, an E-Type Jaguar, a BMW MINI JCW (that, rumour has it, cost £40k) and an old Mini of some description. There might be ones that I don't know about or have forgotten. Of the cars that I know he has, only the MINI and a Range Rover are less than a couple of years old.

He also has a Sunseeker Predator 130 motor yacht and shares in a Gulfstream jet.

His company deals in property.

More acceptable if it's their own company IMHO, much less so if its a plc. Our CEO drives a Punto, but generally takes the tube.

Personally, when I was driving a Boxster and had to support a site closure, I parked well off site and walked in, it would have been offensive to do anything else, I felt.

Sir Terry did have a chauffeur driven Range Rover when I was there.

I don't report into the MD nor am I based at the same office so don't know, but the Director I do report into has a 535d M-Sport (E60, LCI) with what appears to be quite a bit more than standard.
