I knew there would be something, there has always been an issue with the Renault Sport issue since the 172.

Jesus wept. I think they finally lost the plot. If 5-doors are so popular why have so few been sold in the previous Clio ranges?

And as for paddle shift only frown

I'm glad I'm leaving the marque having owned one of the last great n/a hot hatches.

No manual what a shame was really hoping this would be good love my 172 and would be a good car for me to aspire to get after university if I had liked it...

Don't see the electrical assistance being a problem, really. Renaultsport got it right in my R26/R26.R (electric, albeit no variable assistance for low speed), cant see them creating something lacking feedback in this one either. IIRC the variable rack in the 197/200 was hardly a pig.

197 certainly doesn't have a variable rack. And it is crap imo. There is ZERO feedback. I gather things improved a little in the 200, but not sure how much.

To avoid ambiguity, I was referring to variable assistance which reduces the amount of effort from the driver to aid low speed manouvering and parking, which the 197 indeed does have. Its effect was quite prominent when I drove one. Shouldn't have said 'variable rack', sorry.

RE: Feedback, it's been a while since driving a 197 and 200, but I honestly didnt remember them being the worst. Though If I drove one today, I may agree with you, since I'm a bit spoilt when it comes to feedback in my current car.

I should've said "feedback through the rack". You have a fair idea what the back is doing through the seat of your pants. It's the front which is bobbins. RE050s have helped a fair bit but...

Surely this 5-door trend is due to manufacturers wanting to sell the 3 door as a "coupe", or completely rename it, and push it slightly upmarket?

I have just learned that there will be no manual gearbox option.

Can I please retract any positive comments I have made thus far about the MK3 Renaultsport Clio and just add that I am too no longer interested in this car.

Five doors I don't mind, forced induction - fine, if the throttle response is good and there is no appreciable lag, I can live with that. Flappy paddles - oh fk off.

There will be a manual. I'd put money on it.

you do realise you stand no chance of a job at Renault with design skills like that? Make it look like a brain-damaged frog, then you'll have a chance.

They could at least have eased these things in more gradually, electric steering, forced induction, five door only, semi-auto box.

Instead they have killed off the last remaining '80's recipe' hot hatch in one fell swoop. Oh what am I moaning about? The only semblance of a hot hatch in 10 years will be an electric st box with an RS badge and possibly some yellow stitching at the top of the (optional) steering wheel.

I'll also be very upset if there is no manual offer. I simply do not want a car with a AT/DTC gearbox, especially a hothatch. 5drs I can live with - in fact I'm actually quite pleased it will be available with 5drs because the OH will actually be prepared to agree to it as the family car and we will be able to get rid of the Touran. woohoo

What an interesting read that was. The negativity trolls were really out in force.

Anyway, time to resurrect the thread.

The new Clio RS is officially released and has been tested now, as Im sure we are all aware.

I just wondered what everyones opinion of it is now, have you changed your mind about it or not??
