I had to do a double take when I first saw that. Most repulsive, but if the customer is paying let the cash roll in, and as mentioned perhaps some R&D ideas for the future but please NOT on that shape

Whilst that is far from the greatest piece of design ever and understandably splits opinions with ease, it is properly stylish. Anything that supports my aspirational vision of being welcomed as a regular at Villa D'Este gets a thumbs up from me.

Sure it'd be a lot less trouble to turn up in anything good looking from the 1960s, but still.

Always associate Pininfarina with Ferrari myself :/

The 458 for Eric Clapton was made by Ferrari themselves I believe though and personally whilst not great I think it was a work of art compared to this monstrosity.

I know the standard 12c coupe looks a bit dull (like the convertible however) but they have managed to make it a whole lot worse with this, the 3/4 view especially wtf where they thinking frown
Ask the owner - they designed it, not McLaren.

Its,,,,, erm,,, optically challenging but definitely all the BETTER for it.
I imagine it akin to discovering an unknown Warhol during a visit to a gallery sporting 500 photos of the same dreadfully dull subject, all of them exactly the same bar the fact each has been captured using a different camera.
B O R I N G ,,,, and definitely not super.

Refreshing to see anything other than the uninspiring generic supercar silhouette thats been doing the rounds for at least the last 15 years.

Couldn't agree more.
Same here. I love the originality, but don't particularly love the design. Some elements, yes, overall, no. But I didn't pay for it so just happy it exists.

My thoughts exactly. You are very, very rich. You want a modern supercar. You are bored by their identikit styling and have some eclectic tastes of your own. This is the result. Not to my tastes, but you can bet that the only person who counts loves it.

I really like it.

It reminds me of classic cars like Bugatti, Delahaye and the like, but at the same time being totally up to date.

It vastly better than some of the Zagato abominations. And much nicer than that awful thing Ferrari made for Eric Clapton.

Good job, fellas.
Same here. I had the same reaction as everyone else initially, but when I read the article for some reason I warmed to it. I like it!

A lot of people seem to be struggling to understand this project. Read the words next to the pictures.

The design was led by the customer, it's what he wanted. If you don't like it, get McLaren to build you a car to your design.

I quite like it and I happen to like Mr Clapton's 458 too.

Batmobile.

It'll have presence in person.

Not to my taste, but hey, if it's someones vision and they've had the funds (and guts) to create it, so be it, I'm sure they love it.

The words make no difference to what in my personal opinion is a gash piece of design and if this was a back street one off by barry and his mates without the prestige of McLaren and the vision of someone with a bit of financial clout it would be getting mocked by all here

I mean really are we looking at the same car .

Put it this way if this had a Ferrari badge it would be getting slaughtered , the Clapton mobile got slaughtered and it was tame in comparison

I am a huge fan of one-off projects, such as the Pininfarina Ferrari P4/5 and the P540 599 Roadster - but this looks like a Japanese concept car from the late 1980s. What are they thinking?

Reminds me of a Citroen DS which of course was a design classic .

Not keen on the X1 tho .

Concave rear screen? Citroen CX.
Faired in rear wheel? Citroen Cx or DS.

Other than that....hmm!
