Certainly does sound awesome.

The 360CS is also rather nice. Also love the Carrera GT, Zonda, etc, they all sound great.

Agreed, The best are all race engines. The BRM has amazing range and harsh anger (perhaps only matched by the 412 t1 ferrari v12 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1InrgZiv30)

Judd V8 is also wonderful http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMNbpoqYclM

A couple from the Nevada Open Road Challenge, the SB2 in its natural environment - averages 217mph for 90 miles touching 240-250 in places. Incredible noise and durability.

There's no doubt the 355 makes a fantastic noise, I'm very lucky to have my office next to a classic Ferrari garage so have heard most from the 60's upwards. A race prepped 250 Lusso and Countach 5000QV has been my favourites so far.

Slightly o/t but Bike magazine gave away a CD on the cover a few years ago with the sounds of an exclectic collection of bikes, both static and fly-by.
It was interesting to work out what you liked the sound of and then see what it was - home classics and pretty humdrum machinery (TDM900) scored very well.

I wonder which non-exotic cars would sound good if you didn't know what they were?
I've got that CD somewhere, I remember the norton rotory sounding particularily nice.

One of the best sounding engines is the BRM v16. No question.

i owned two 355's in the 1990's the last with a Fiorano pack, without doubt the best drive I ever had. The noise was the best too, tunnels were a must do on every hoon.

Being a die hard F355 fan, I've tried the standard exhaust, regular Tubi, Tubi Evolution (has two chambers like the Capristo and the Capristo exhausts.

Without doubt the Capristo IMO sounds the best, nothing beats it heading towards 9,000 rpm. Also for some reason the F355 seems to sound the best of all the flat plane Ferrari V8's (subjective I know) - maybe because it has 5 valves per cylinder, but for whatever reason it seems to have it's own unique sound....

Always looking forward to my next tunnel....!!

Are you kidding? That sounds like lawn mower gone wrong

edit - Ok, that sounds bad from me, i just don't get the high pitched stuff, kind of annoying, when I hear an M3 boot it it sounds like the exhaust is falling off, guess it's low end grunt vs high revs, but why don't Ferrari etc just make bigger engines, why bother going to all that agro to with a small engine when a bigger one will do the same with more torque, flat plane cranks are not for the street and in small displacement engine are not that fast. Every Ferrari guy i've seen booting it looks like a dick.

355 the best sounding car of all time? Nope, I'll just park this here as people have started posting racing cars (2.15 onwards for the best noise)
