Pistonheads/Petrolheads !

There isn't a thread goes by where everything ultimately boils down to speed, BHP etc....is this all that matters in your automotive lives?....there is far more dynamics to be considered in the whole concept of car ownership and we haven't even touched on that rare feeling of 'Passion' that some of the few of you might of experienced behind the wheel of a car!

Why does everything have to be so clinical? Why is it all about statistics? and Why is it all "My cars better than your car" ?

Then again, thinking about it! Is it what is called healthy debate?...maybe i'm in a mood frown but sometimes the crap spoken in this place just gets to me !

Carry on....

I don't see why Toyota would block Subaru. A quick search on Goo Exchange shows 4 pages worth of 86's for sale whereas there are barely a handful BRZ's listed.

Toyota needn't worry.
Because the UK second market is all Toyota are bothered with.

You heard it here first, folks.

If they turbocharge it, I wonder what exhaust header lengths they'll go for.

Only if the Elise drivers rubbish.
If a std BRZ can get near a std 111s Elise i'd be very very surprised!

But going back to original topic, I am sure Toyota and Subaru had this discussion years ago and nobody will get upset or be surprised at if they do or don't build a turbo variant. That might challenge an Elise!!!

I so hope that's getting put into production, I even think the power is about right and it looks fantastic.

Good job it wasn't the new renaultsport model. I think you'd implode if you had drive one of those.

Another slow news day? That article @ www.autonews.com does not give sources. I am suggesting it is another rehash of the turboed FA20 story. The f/i FA20 is fact. Turbo BRZ is rumour. Just because the BRZ uses the FA20 engine doesn't mean the BRZ will get the forced induction variant.

Shock news! Car manufacturer to develop varient of new model! Dear god what utter drivel this story and thread are. There will be a turbo version of both cars, they will be great, well liked by the press and impove sales firgures across the range, armchair critics will continue to sprout sh!t comments across the world - fact. QED.
Thank you. Now because you know everything, can you tell me what what maxda are going to do next please, and then inform me what I'm having for dinner tomorow.

Is more power what we really want out of the package though?
Is this some sort of autophile IQ test?
Now let me see... Hell yes.
I don't know why the author is expecting that Toyota has to give Subaru permission to aspirate their new toy. Even in Japan, capitalism reigns supreme. They will turbo the car if they think there is a market, and it's reasonably safe. There is, and it is. I'd bet on this one.

Love the first comment

"Can't any competant ex-racer do this?,didn't bother watching, because drifting is drifting isn't it?, what different can you do,especially on a track.
Peter Cavellini"

Sounds like a person with blinkers like that would fit right in here wink

Subaru don't do gold wheels anymore.

Or even seemingly the proper WR Blue.

Sad.

If Subaru can't escape from the cheap/thirsty/fast/crude niche they've built, they may as well call it a day selling cars in the EU.

I test drove a GT-86 recently, great car, but it needed two things:

1 - more drama, the smooth flat torque curve was great, but just infinitely dull compared to the whizz bang peeks and troughs of a big turbo.
2 - 2 inches more length in the back seat... But seriously, I couldn't fit my two (under 10) kids, the salesman and myself into the thing, may as well be a two seater.

If it had been a proper 2+2 and had a bit more drama about its power delivery, I would have probably had one on order now.
