I think the point was to ask you a question you didn't know the answer to and then see how confident you were in your guess - if you had only answered the ones you knew, I don't think the test would be very useful.
What about those people like me that will not guess but prefer to say 'dont know' ?

Why won't you guess? I suppose that provides some psychological insight about you, but not in the area she is looking for. In the spirit of the question, what you should do if you insist on being sure you are right, is to choose the largest number you are sure is too small and the smallest number you are sure is too large, and the midpoint between them.

Interesting subject Sofie, I thought the range-based questions were an interesting technique that I've not seen before (hope you've been ignoring the pointed comments from those who gave up!).

Best of luck with the dissertation!

As an aside, presumably the estimate questions will provide an insight into the wisdom of crowds. Even PH can probably manage this, despite appearances. It'd be interesting to know the averages at the end.

What absolute f*cking drivel.

As someone who works with research agencies a lot, and has seen his fair share of questionnaires, I am pretty saddened by the fact that you haven't even been bothered to go through and proof-read your script. On top of the likelihood that a quick Google for "car forum" was probably all you bothered to do about sample sourcing, this is really not looking like a great piece of work.
Seen a fair share of questionnaires, but not really understood how they work, I think.

It's not just a bunch of random questions - there's a lot more to a proper research questionnaire than meets the eye, and the reactions to them tell a lot more than you might think... wink
I'm not going to willy-swing, really. I've been doing this a long while, and this one is a load of toss.
